  • Patent number: 4680143
Abstract: A high foaming aqueous liquid detergent composition suitable inter alia for manual dishwashing is based on a ternary active detergent system of (a) dialkyl sulphosuccinate, (b) alkylbenzene sulphonate and/or secondary alkane sulphonate and (c) alkyl ether sulphate. This combination gives both performance and formulation (viscosity, hydrotropy) benefits.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 25, 1985
Date of Patent: July 14, 1987
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: David J. Edge, Appaya R. Naik, Melvin Scott
  • Patent number: 4537709
Abstract: In light-duty liquid detergent compositions suitable for hand dishwashing, improved foaming performance, especially in hard water, is obtained by using combinations of particular alkylbenzene sulphonates (linear C.sub.10 -C.sub.13 alkylbenzene sulphonates substantially free of other alkyl chain lengths and containing only minor amounts of C.sub.13 material) and particular alkyl ether sulphates (those containing 20% or less of C.sub.14 and above material and having an average degree of ethoxylation of from 1 to 12).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 14, 1983
Date of Patent: August 27, 1985
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: David J. Edge, Appaya R. Naik, Melvin Scott
  • Patent number: 4434088
Abstract: The foaming performance in hard water of dishwashing detergent compositions containing dialkyl sulphosuccinates is enhanced by including in the composition a substantially water-soluble protein having a Bloom gel strength of at least 50 g, preferably from 150 to 300 g and especially from 200 to 250 g. The protein is advantageously a gelatin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 22, 1982
Date of Patent: February 28, 1984
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: Reginald Billington, David J. Edge, Peter Winterbotham
  • Patent number: 4434089
Abstract: The foaming performance in hard water of dishwashing detergent compositions containing dialkyl sulphosuccinates is enhanced by including in the composition a substantially water-soluble substantially undegraded protein, such as soluble casein, sodium caseinate, soluble gelatin or chicken egg albumen.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 22, 1982
Date of Patent: February 28, 1984
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: Reginald Billington, David J. Edge, Peter Winterbotham
  • Patent number: 4298491
Abstract: The autoxidation of aqueous detergent slurries containing major quantities of nonionic surfactant during spray-drying is inhibited by the use of a charge-transfer agent. The charge-transfer agent may be a charge-transfer acceptor or a charge-transfer donor or a precursor of either of these. The agent may be present in an amount of from 0.05 to 2% by weight and the nonionic surfactant in an amount of 3% or more by weight based on the weight of the fully formulated detergent powder. The preferred charge-transfer agent is potassium iodide.
