  • Publication number: 20150136122
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a metered dose dispensing valve for dispensing metered volumes of an aerosol formulation from an aerosol container. The valves described herein are particularly suitable for use with metered dose inhalers for the oral delivery of medicaments. By combining the compliant biasing member and the second valve body into an integral single component it is possible to provide a desirable metered dose dispensing valve for use in inhalation devices or for use in the provision of canisters targeted for use in inhalation devices.

  • Patent number: 8740014
Abstract: A dose counter for use with an inhaler comprising a container for medicament equipped with a reciprocal actuation means to dispense a dose of medicament therefrom, the dose counter comprising: a fixed ratchet member, a trigger member constructed and arranged to undergo reciprocal movement coordinated with the reciprocal movement between the actuation means and the container, said reciprocal movement comprising an outward stroke and a return stroke, a counter member constructed and arranged to undergo a predetermined counting movement each time a dose is dispensed, the counter member being biased towards the ratchet and trigger members and being capable of counting motion in a direction generally orthogonal to the direction of reciprocal movement of the trigger member, the counter member comprising: a first region for interaction with the trigger member which comprises at least one inclined surface which is engaged by the trigger member during its outward stroke causing the counter member to undergo counting m

  • Patent number: 7234460
Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel design for a metering valve that provides improved consistency of formulation delivery. Generally, the metering valve includes (a) a valve stem that generally defines a longitudinal axis and includes a body portion having a metering surface, wherein the longitudinal axis and a plane tangential to at least a portion of the metering surface define an angle from about 2° to about 90°; and (b) a valve body having an internal chamber defined at least in part by the body wall and includes a metering portion configured to substantially conform to the metering surface of the valve stem.

  • Patent number: 5515841
Abstract: An inhalation device including an aerosol generator for dispensing droplets of liquid medicament comprising a housing defining a liquid receptacle having an opening, a nozzle arrangement comprising a plurality of orifices, vibrating means for vibrating the nozzle arrangement, and means for introducing the liquid medicament on the outer surface of the nozzle arrangement. Control means are also provided for controlling the vibrating means such that when the liquid medicament is introduced on the outer surface of the nozzle arrangement, the nozzle arrangement may be vibrated to cause the liquid to enter the liquid receptacle through the orifices and thereafter be expelled from the orifices through the outer surface of the nozzle arrangement in the form of atomised droplets.

  • Patent number: 5348730
Abstract: A method for preparing a self-propelling, powder dispersing aerosol composition comprising at least 0.0001% by weight of a finely-divided solid medicament coated with a non-perfluorinated surface active dispersing agent which constitutes at least 0.0001% by weight of the coated solid material, and suspended in an aerosol propellant in which the non-perfluorinated surface-active dispersing agent is substantially insoluble. Propellant-insoluble non-perfluorinated surfactants are used to prepare stable dispersions of powdered medicament by way of pre-coating the medicament with the surfactant prior to admixture with propellant.
