  • Patent number: 6752430
Abstract: This invention converts commercially available plastic ID cards, usually made of PVC, and/or electronically printed documents, e.g., laser printed documents, photo copier printed documents, dye-sublimation printed documents, ink jet printed documents, into time dependant, self-expiring badges or documents that display a visual indicia, e.g., change of color, appearance of a word, e.g., VOID after a specified or predetermined period of time. Broadly, a pressure sensitive security sticker is applied to these commercially available plastic ID cards and/or electronically printed documents. The sticker changes color, typically from white to red, after a predetermined period of time. This change in color is caused by the toner/dye/color pigment contained in these documents. The sticker provides a time dependent indicator for these documents.

  • Patent number: 6590435
Abstract: A method and apparatus that restrict the differential output voltage (VOD) for an LVDS input buffer is provided. Specifically, VOD is prevented from exceeding a predetermined threshold. The input and output common-mode voltage, as well as the input and output differential voltage swing, are maintained during the VOD restriction. The VOD restriction reduces output jitter of the LVDS input buffer and provides a more robust LVDS system as compared to an LVDS system not using a VOD restriction circuit. Clamping circuits are used to restrict the VOD. Each half of the differential output voltage may be clamped to restrict the differential output voltage. The clamping circuits are activated in response to the VOD reaching the predetermined threshold. When a clamping circuit is active, an alternate current path is provided maintaining the level of the signal before clamping.

  • Patent number: 6513710
Abstract: A name card identification system for a person attending a meeting with other persons. The system comprises a name card having visual information and electronically readable code uniquely associated with the person attending the meeting. A printer is provided for printing name cards as well as a reader for reading the code on the name card. A means is provided for transmitting such code from the reader to the printer, wherein when the name card is read by the reader and the code transmitted to the printer, at least one name card is printed for such person for distribution to at least one other person attending such meeting. Preferably a plurality of cards are printed.

  • Patent number: 6452873
Abstract: A time indicator rapidly changes color after a specific time interval. The indicator comprises “back part” that includes a base substrate with a colored dye or colorant deposited on a first surface. A colorant impermeable barrier layer overlays the colorant or colored dye. The indicator further comprises a “front part” that includes a substrate having an adhesive on a first surface thereof. When the back part and front part are put into adhesive contact with each other, the parts coact with each other to cause the colorant impermeable barrier layer to change to a colorant permeable layer to permit the dye to migrate through the layers to cause a color change visible through the front part.

  • Patent number: 6446865
Abstract: A security system including a security or identification badge to be worn by a person. The identification badge has a reflective surface that has a predetermined reflective pattern indicating a predetermined identification status of the person wearing the badge. A means is provided for illuminating the reflective surface of the badge with radiation and detecting the reflected radiation from the predetermined reflective pattern. A signal is produced from the detected radiation to indicate the predetermined identification status of the person wearing the badge. Preferably, the badge is illuminated with a visible wavelength of light and the predetermined reflective pattern includes a retroreflective film.

  • Publication number: 20020113373
Abstract: A method of playing a game wherein the game has a predetermined period of time as an element of the game. Such method comprises providing a game sheet, the game sheet has a first substrate with an image surface having at least one imprinted hidden image on such surface and a second substrate with an activation surface having an activation medium thereon. The predetermined period time of the game is initiated by contacting the activation surface with the image surface to thereby contact the activation medium with the imprinted hidden image. The activation medium coacts with the imprinted hidden image to develop and reveal the image after the predetermined period of time has expired and to indicate the end of the predetermined period of time in the game.

  • Patent number: 6295252
Abstract: A migrating dye indicator that includes a display layer and a base substrate layer. An adhesive layer is on one surface of the display layer for adhesively attaching the display layer to the base layer. The base layer includes a migrating dye capable of migrating through the adhesive layer to the display layer when the adhesive layer is placed in contact therewith. The adhesive layer contains an accelerator for enhancing the migration of the dye through the adhesive layer. The base layer contains a means for absorbing the accelerator into the base layer.
