Abstract: Detergent compositions, detergent additive products and bleaching compositions containing aliphatic peroxyacid bleach precursors of formula ##STR1## are provided, where L is a leaving group of defined formula whose conjugate acid has a pKa of from 6 to 13 and ##STR2## is a non linear acyl group, the carboxylic acid derivative of which has a logP.sub.OCT in the range from 1.9 to 4.0 (where P.sub.OCT is the partition coefficient between octanol and water). New precursor compounds are provided in which ##STR3## is a C.sub.7 -C.sub.17 branched aliphatic acyl group containing a linear chain of at least 5 carbon atoms extending from and including the carbonyl carbon wherein the branching is on at least the 2- and/or 3- carbon atom.

Abstract: Aqueous hypochlorite bleach compositions containing a fine dispersion of the bleach stable optical brightener 4,4'-bis(4-phenyl-2H-1,2,3-triazol-2-yl)-2,2'-stilbenedisulfonate.

Abstract: Article used in a method for sanitizing toilets wherein a hypochlorite sanitizing agent and an oxidizable dye are dispensed from separate dispensing means into the toilet flush water to provide a color to the bowl water. The color disappears within a short time after the flush, thereby providing a visual indicator of the activity of the sanitizing agent.

Abstract: The combination of a passive dosing dispenser, of the type having a reservoir containing a cake of active ingredients which are depleted as water is routed through the dispenser, and an improved hypochlorite cake for use therein. The improved hypochlorite cake provides water-soluble hypochlorites, and additionally contains materials capable of forming a water-insoluble matrix from which hypochlorite salts may be leached out by the water in the reservoir. The size of the cake desirably increases somewhat while the dispenser is in use so that the mass of aqueous hypochlorite which may be poured from the reservoir of the dispenser remains constant or slightly decreases as the active ingredients are used up.

Abstract: Dry, granular, bleaching compositions comprising an effective amount of diperoxydodecanedioic acid and sufficient buffering agent to control the pH of the aqueous solution in which the bleach is used in the range of 8.7 to 9.5. The peroxyacid and the buffering agent being present as separate granules in such compositions. Methods of using the compositions are also provided.
