  • Patent number: 9473329
Abstract: Disclosed herein, one embodiment of the disclosure is directed to an apparatus for receiving Aeronautical Radio, Incorporated (ARINC) 429 bus signals. The apparatus may comprise: a modulator that modulates the ARINC 429 bus signals onto a carrier signal and generates a modulated signal using only power supplied by the ARINC 429 bus; and a demodulator that recovers ARINC 429 bus baseband binary data from the modulated signal, wherein the modulated signal propagates from the modulator to the demodulator through capacitive coupling.

  • Publication number: 20030103778
Abstract: A fusing apparatus for xerographic printing includes a fuser roll with two parallel lamps, or heating elements, therein. At power-up, power is applied to each lamp in a stair-step fashion, in which incremental increases in applied power for each lamp are staggered in time. The incremental increases are made by adding half-cycles to an alternating current applied to each lamp.

  • Patent number: 5576614
Abstract: A circuit is provided for obtaining precise lamp voltage control and for compensating for varying or fluctuating input from an AC voltage source. The lamp is switched on by a switching device such as a triac. When the triac is powered, a simultaneous powering occurs of a second switching device such as an SCR. The SCR produces a scaled down RMS voltage output which closely matches the actual RMS lamp voltage. This second simulated voltage is precisely controlled in a feedback circuit which includes an RMS to DC converter and a feedback controller. The controller compares a converted DC voltage with a reference voltage and generates a firing pulse to the triac which is advanced or delayed so as to compensate for variations in the AC source as manifested by variations in the converted DC signal relative to the reference signal.

  • Patent number: 5260202
Abstract: The recoverable yield of recombinant human albumin in the fermentation of genetically engineered yeast that expresses the albumin and secretes it into the culture medium is increased by the addition of a stabilizing agent comprising a polyoxyalkylene compound, for example, polypropylene glycol or a polyoxypropylene/polyoxyethylene copolymer. The presence of these compounds in concentrations of from about 0.5 to 10 g per liter, preferably 1 to 5 g per liter, of fermentation broth prevents the degradation of the rHA produced under intensive fermentation conditions thereby raising the effective yield.
