  • Patent number: 8769407
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to the help function and provide a method, system and computer program product for a pointing help system. In one embodiment of the invention, a method for pointing help in a GUI can include receiving a help event in association with a GUI control in the GUI, generating a help message for placement in a portion of the GUI statically configured to present different help messages, and visually coupling the GUI control with the help message through pointing help. In particular, in one aspect of the embodiment, visually coupling the GUI control with the help message through pointing help can include generating an arrow shell in a window separate from the GUI; and superimposing the arrow shell over the GUI to visually couple the GUI control with the help message.

  • Patent number: 6056250
Abstract: An improved sign stand for flexible traffic control signage is provided which includes a cam assembly for quickly securing a sign to the stand without sacrificing the holding force generated thereby. The sign stand includes a base assembly for temporarily erecting the sign at a desirable location, and an elongated upright extending from the base assembly. A cam assembly is supported by the upright for releasably securing a vertical brace member of a flexible sign. The cam assembly includes a rotatable cam member and a compliant member interdisposed between the cam member and the upright which is operably associated therewith to elastically yield in response to rotation of the cam member, thereby generating a clamping force between the upright and the cam assembly to releasably secure the vertical brace member to the stand.

  • Patent number: 5938365
Abstract: A tubular frame having a plurality of tubular members and a backing member. The tubular members are held together by round corner members. The corner members have hollow tubular insertion members or legs at one end and "X" or "cross-shaped" insertion members or legs at the other end in order to mate with adjacent tubular frame members. The two insertion members are adapted to be joined to a tubular member in only certain orientations which assists in manufacturing and assembly. The tubular frame members also have elongated channels on one side for mating with the backing member.

  • Patent number: 5442871
Abstract: Free standing and wall mounted poster and sign displays are disclosed. Each of these devices comprise a sign frame with similar top and bottom curved extrusions, similar side frame extrusion members, and a backing member. The upper and lower frame extrusion members include elongated slots which are used to hold the display indicia in place by the "lift and fall" principle. The side frame members contain spring biased cover members which clamp the sign materials in place against the backing member. A clear protective covering member is hooked in place in the slot in the upper frame extrusion member. Unique corner connecting members are used to secure and connect together the frame members around the backing member forming the sign devices. The corner connecting members comprise cap members which cover the open ends of the upper and lower frame extrusion members, as well as insert members which fit within the open ends of the side frame extrusion members.

  • Patent number: 5340068
Abstract: A release mechanism for a locking, pivotable leg for an assembly to allow an individual to use his foot to disengage the locking element which locks the pivotable leg into its operative position in which a plurality of such legs engage a supporting surface. The release mechanism includes a release pin having an enlarged head and transmission means to transmit movement of the release pin to the locking element moving it from its operative locking position. Where the locking element is of a type including a locking pin which is biased into a locking pin hole in a base bracket by biasing means such as a leaf spring, the transmission means of the present invention includes a release pin spring shoulder, a locking pin spring groove and a pin slot in the leaf spring disposed to engage these two components.

  • Patent number: 5046886
Abstract: An improved extension shield for a manhole is disclosed. The shield seals around an open manhole frame protecting the instruments and men working inside from rain, snow, surface water and other elements. The shield is adapted to be installed in four differently sized openings and is constructed to preferably seal inside the lip of the manhole frame rather than on top of the lip. The shield is made of a durable molded plastic material and is stackable to create higher shields or for storage.
