Patent number: 12125102Abstract: A method may include receiving image data representative of cash acquired via one or more image sensors, identifying a first currency depicted in the cash based on a plurality of images associated with a plurality of currencies, and determining a currency conversion rate between the first currency and a second currency. The method may also include generating a visualization representative of a currency value of the cash in the second currency based on the currency conversion rate and overlaying the visualization on the image data.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 2023Date of Patent: October 22, 2024Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Carlos J P Chavez, David Jason Anderson James, Rachel Elizabeth Csabi, Quian Jones, Andrea Marie Richardson

Patent number: 7233607Abstract: A source of pulses of coherent radiation at a wavelength of approximately 1 ?m, comprises a pump source for producing pump light; a laser cavity comprising an Yb3+-doped gain medium arranged to receive the pump light, the laser cavity being modelocked to generate laser pulses at a defined repetition rate; a pulse detector arranged to generate a pulse selection signal indicative of the repetition rate; a pulse selector arranged to reduce the repetition rate of the laser pulses responsive to the pulse selection signal from the pulse detector by passing only selected ones of the laser pulses; and at least one optical amplifier for amplifying the laser pulses of reduced repetition rate. The at least one optical amplifier can be configured for chirped or parabolic pulse amplification.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2005Date of Patent: June 19, 2007Assignee: University of SouthamptonInventors: David J Richardson, Lars Johan Albinsson Nilsson, Laurent Lefort, Jonathan Hugh Vaughan Price, Andrew Malinowski, Morten Ibsen

Patent number: 5613614Abstract: The primary part of the rack is a beam having an essentially H shaped cross section having two sides and a web interconnecting them. A length of bungee cord is threaded through a series of holes in the web to provide a series of exposed, end to end lengths of the cord, each length being usable to retain a stored object against the edges of the sides of the beam. In one embodiment of the invention pins may be inserted in holes across the beam to provide spans of cord shorter than the distance between holes. In an alternate embodiment clips engage the cord and are attachable to the web at any of a plurality of openings. The pattern of the installation of the cord is such that the length of cord serving each exposed length is approximately 3 times the exposed length.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1995Date of Patent: March 25, 1997Inventor: David J. Patent number: 4635053Abstract: Apparatus for monitoring and/or restricting access to individual items each provided with a unique identifying code comprises a console provided with a plurality of identical receptacles each for retaining one of a plurality of items. The receptacles are scanned one by one by a microprocessor and the identity of each of the items in the receptacles is obtained and recorded. When a user wishes to obtain an item he first identifies himself to the microprocessor using an identity card read by a card reader and by inputting a personal identity number by a keyboard. The item the user wishes is then identified to the computer using a keyboard and if all input information relating to user and item is correct the microprocessor causes an indicator lamp to be lit adjacent the receptacle containing the desired item and for a retaining latch holding the item in the receptacle to be released thus permitting the user to take the item. Details relating to the user, the item taken and the time of day are recorded.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 1984Date of Patent: January 6, 1987Inventors: Edward J. K. Banks, David J. Richardson
