  • Patent number: 9562554
Abstract: A retainer assembly for retaining a panel to a component. The retainer assembly includes a base defining a bore for receiving a screw. A pair of front and back support members each have a first section connected to the base, and a second section that overlies the bore for flexing outwardly in response to being engaged by the screw. A front and back primary retention member each extend outwardly from the front and back support members for holding the retainer assembly relative to the panel. A pair of front and back secondary retention members each extend outwardly from the first section of the front and back support members. The front and back secondary retention members terminate closer to the base than the front and back primary retention members to establish an interference fit between the retainer assembly and the panel prior to the screw being driven through the retainer assembly.

  • Patent number: 5893694
Abstract: A caged nut fastener (100) is provided that features a first arm (6) in overhanging substantially parallel spaced-apart relationship to a base portion (4) defining a cage therebetween. Arm (6) has an opening (20) therethrough having a breadth "B" through which is received a tubular end portion (18) and a portion of a frusto-conical projection (16) extending from a base (14) having a planar surface (15) in facing sliding engagement with base portion (4). The breadth of the frusto-conical projection (16) within opening (20) is sufficiently less the breadth (B) to enable the nut member to move substantially the same distance in any direction transverse to a central rotational axis ("C") extending through a threaded bore (22) in portion (18) of the nut member.

  • Patent number: 5774949
Abstract: A clip (100) is provided that is adapted to be pressed into an opening (32) through a frame (30) with resilient fingers (12) and (12') operative to expand outwardly to enable sections (15) and (15') of fingers (12) and (12') to engage a lower edge (33) surrounding opening (32) through frame (30). A protuberance (26) extending from trim 24 is pressed between free-ends (18) and (18') respectively of prongs (16) and (16') extending from opposite sides of an aperture (22) through head portion (8) of clip (100) that are operative to secure trim (24) to clip (100) and frame (30). Fingers (12) and (12') extend from arms (10) and (10') of clip (100) whose free-ends (14) and (14') remain separated such that the lower end of clip (100) remain apart to prevent force imparted upon trim (24) from being transferred to clip (100).
