    Abstract: A unitary multilateral junction for deployment in a wellbore, wherein the multilateral junction permits electrical power and communications signals to be established in both a lateral wellbore and a main wellbore utilizing capacitive coupling and a cavity resonator. The unitary junction assembly generally includes a conduit with a first upper aperture, a first lower aperture and a second lower aperture where the first lower aperture is defined at the distal end of a primary passageway extending from a conduit junction and a second lower aperture defined at the distal end of a lateral passageway extending from the conduit junction. A lower wireless energy transfer mechanism in the form of a capacitive coupler is positioned along at least one of the passageways between the distal end of the passageway and the junction. A cavity resonator is adjacent the capacitive coupler to enhance the electric field signal of the capacitive coupler.

    Abstract: A system and method to controlling fluid flow to/from multiple intervals in a lateral wellbore. The system and method can include a unitary multibranch inflow control (MIC) junction assembly (a primary passageway through a primary leg and a lateral passageway through a lateral leg) installed at an intersection of main and lateral wellbores. An upper energy transfer mechanism (ETM) can be mounted along the primary passageway, and control lines 100 can provide communication between the upper ETM 214 and lower completion assembly equipment. A lower ETM can be mounted along the lateral passageway, with the upper ETM in communication with the lower ETM via the control lines. A tubing string can be extended through the primary passageway to access lower completion assembly equipment. The upper ETM can communicate with a tubing string ETM to receive/transmit control, data, and/or power signals from/to lower completion equipment in the lateral wellbores.

    Abstract: A system and method to protect downhole tools and equipment used in transporting fluids with erosional and/or corrosive characteristics is disclosed according to one or more embodiments. The protection assembly engages with a latch coupling or other surface in need of protection to form a barrier between the latch coupling surface and any erosional or corrosive fluids. The protection assembly comprises a barrier sleeve portion and a support sleeve portion disposed in the barrier sleeve. The support sleeve is moveable between a first and second position within the barrier sleeve. In a first position of the support sleeve, collet fingers in the barrier sleeve may flex to allow movement through the latch coupling while in a second position of the support sleeve, the collet fingers may not flex and the barrier sleeve is engaged and protecting the latch coupling.

A lateral orientation device (LOD) is mounted on the exposed end of the production string. The LOD may include a contoured surface for orientation of a tool, such as a whipstock, which may be utilized to drill a new wellbore.
