  • Patent number: 8983191
Abstract: One embodiment described herein may take the form of a system or method for dynamically recognizing an Internet address within a video or audio component of a multimedia presentation on a distribution system or network such as, but not limited to, a satellite, cable or Internet network. In general, the embodiment may analyze the audio portion of the presentation or one or more frames of a video component to detect the presence of a web address within the one or more frames. In the embodiment where the audio portion is analyzed, the system may perform a voice recognition or a similar analysis on the audio portion to detect the utterance of a web address. Similarly, one embodiment analyzing the one or more frames of the video component may comprise performing an optical character recognition (OCR) of the frame.

  • Patent number: 6644226
Abstract: The present invention relates to a seed sowing apparatus which includes a substantially flat circular disc (1) mounted on a frame so as to be rotatable about horizontal axis (2) while partly embedded in soil (3) and drawn in a forward direction substantially parallel to the soil surface and substantially perpendicular to a disc axle. The apparatus also includes at least one blade (10) having a leading edge (11) defined by the intersection of two opposite side surfaces and structure (41, 45) for mounting the blades on the apparatus so that the leading edge (11) is held close to or in intimate contact with the disc (1), wherein the at least one blade's leading edge (11) is inclined in a plane of the blade such that an angle of the leading edge (11) with respect to an arc (A, B, C) of the disc surface passing beneath the leading edge (11) is zero or positive over the entire length of the leading edge (11).

  • Patent number: 6364931
Abstract: A hydrochloric acid solution containing platinum group metals has its acidity adjusted to 5.5 to 6.5M HCl and its redox potential adjusted to at least 500 mV, before being treated by chromatography. Particularly clean separation of at least Pt and Pd can be obtained, and recovered Pt and Pd of at least 99.99% purity may be obtained by following conventional precipitation processes.

  • Patent number: 5944598
Abstract: In a process and apparatus for determining grading parameters of a carcass, the outline of an image of the carcass is traced and reference points representing anatomical features of the carcass are identified. Second reference points being located at pre-determined positions relative to the first reference points are then identified. The carcass image is divided into a plurality of sections, the boundaries of each section being determined as a function of the position of the first and second reference points, and the area of each section is determined. A grading parameter predictive equation is determined wherein the grading parameter is included as a dependent variable, and at least one area of a carcass image section is included as an independent variable. Solving the predictive equation provides a value for the grading parameter of the carcass.
