  • Patent number: 11675617
Abstract: Method, computer program product, and system to prioritize the execution of processing task requests in a task request queue, where the processing task requests are related to an environment. The method includes adding processing task requests to a task request queue in response to the detection of predefined actions in an environment. The method also includes adding additional processing task requests or adjusting a priority level of not yet completed task requests in the task request queue, in response to detecting subsequent predefined actions in the environment.

  • Patent number: 11501346
Abstract: Customers are identified as they enter a store and linked to one or more items previously ordered on-line. A route through the store to retrieve the ordered items is generated and sent to the customer's mobile device for display. The customer's movements are tracked as he/she goes through the store to retrieve products, and the location of the customer determined whenever he/she selects a product from the shelves. Based on whether the locations of the customer when he/she selected the products matches the predefined locations of the items ordered on-line, the customer is directed to go to one of an audit station or checkout lane, or alternatively, to bypass both audit station and the checkout lane and exit the store. In the latter case, the customer's account is automatically charged for the total cost of the ordered items.

  • Patent number: 11074632
Abstract: A method, computer program product, and system are disclosed for compiling a virtual transaction for a person within an environment having a plurality of items. The method includes acquiring, using at least one visual sensor, first image information including a person. The method further includes identifying the at least one person from the first image information by classifying the person into a class. The method also includes acquiring second image information including the person and an item. The method further includes identifying a behavior of the person relative to the item, and updating, based on the identified behavior, the virtual transaction.

  • Publication number: 20210133715
Abstract: Pay stations in a retail store initiate customer transactions for customers. When a first pay station is unable to complete a customer transaction, it hands the transaction off to a second pay station that is able to complete the transaction. During hand off, the first pay station determines a first set of biometric and contextual data associated with the customers and sends that information to the second pay station. The second pay station then determines, independently, a second set of biometric and contextual data associated with the customers and compares it against the first set. Depending on the results of the comparison, customers are either granted or denied access at the second pay station to complete the transaction. Additionally, all biometric and contextual data are permanently destroyed without being saved to memory.

  • Patent number: 10867502
Abstract: A control server associated with a retail store places or assigns people that are determined to be socially interrelated into corresponding groups. When a group member becomes separated from the group, an image of that person is analyzed and used to identify his/her group. Once identified, the control server generates a notification indicating the current locations in the retail store of both the group and the person who became separated, and indicates a route the person can take through the store to reunite with the group.

  • Patent number: 10690320
Abstract: To provide a user with descriptive images for each function performed by a button, the embodiments described herein use a transforming graphical expression that presents different images depending on the particular function the button is currently performing. For example, if the button is used to increase speaker volume, the graphical expression may display plus sign, but if the button is currently being used to navigate through a display menu, the graphical expression may be transformed into an arrow to indicate the direction a selection element in the menu moves if the button is activated. Thus, as the current function of the button changes, the graphical expression presented to the user also changes. In this manner, the same button may be used to perform multiple functions while presenting to a user a customized graphical expression indicating the current function of the button.

  • Patent number: 10593163
Abstract: Method, computer program product, and system to provide an extended vision within an environment having a plurality of items, where the extended vision is based on a field of view of a person determined using a first visual sensor, and is further based on at least a second visual sensor disposed within the environment. Image information from the first and second visual sensors is associated to produce combined image information. Selected portions of the combined image information are displayed based on input provided through a user interface.

  • Patent number: 10380816
Abstract: A method, computer program product, and system are disclosed for facilitating access by a first person to a secure region that is at least partly defined by an access control device. The method acquires, using at least one visual sensor, first image information including the first person and the access control device. The method identifies the first person using image analysis performed on the first image information. The method further identifies a first behavior of the first person relative to the access control device. Upon determining the first behavior corresponds to a predefined visual access behavior indicating that the first person is in the process of manually operating the access control device, and that the security level of the first person satisfies a predetermined threshold security level associated with the access control device, the method permits the first person to physically access the secure region.

  • Patent number: 10140605
Abstract: A portable payment terminal (PPT) that is used to facilitate customer transactions in a mobile point-of-sale (MPOS) system is assigned to a particular tablet device. The PPT device may dock with to charge its batteries, and undock from the tablet device to facilitate customer transactions. To maintain a requisite one-to-one relationship between the two devices, a timer is started whenever the PPT device is undocked from the tablet device. Additionally, checks are performed to ensure that the PPT device is authorized to dock with the tablet device. If the PPT device remains undocked from the tablet device for a predetermined time period, or if the PPT device is not authorized to dock with the tablet device, the functions of the tablet device and/or the PPT device are disabled to reduce or eliminate the usability of the devices to a user.

  • Patent number: 10129507
Abstract: A network of cameras is disposed throughout a store, such as a grocery store, for example. The cameras are positioned so as to monitor the products available in the store, as well as the entrances and exits to and from the store. Customers are identified as they enter the store, and their movements throughout the store are tracked. The cameras capture images of the products selected by the customer and then send those images to a computer server. The server identifies each product selected by the customer, maintains a total price for all products selected by the customer, and automatically debits the customer's account for the total price upon detecting the customer leaving the store.
