Patent number: 7835960Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for facilitating a transaction using a secondary transaction number that is associated with a cardholder's primary account. The cardholder provides the secondary transaction number, often with limited-use conditions associated therewith, to a merchant to facilitate a more secure and confident transaction.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2004Date of Patent: November 16, 2010Assignee: American Express Travel Related Services Company, Inc.Inventors: Lydia Breck, Jessica Zoob, Glen Salow, Fred Bishop, William Schwarz, Elliot Glazer, David Johnstone, Katie Cunningham, Anant Nambiar, Jan Nunney Belt, Martin Wittwer, David Armes, Christina Chow

Patent number: 7791638Abstract: A scanning camera with a rotating drum has one or more sensors characterized by a non-radial optical axis. With two sensors on opposite sides of the drum and facing in substantially the same direction, stereoscopic recording of a panorama is accomplished as the drum rotates. The adjustment of convergence between stereoscopic viewpoints is described that improves the viewing and interpretation of stereoscopic images. Rapid rotation of the scanning camera produces panoramic motion picture recording, with the final frame speed dependent on the sensitivity and speed of the sensor, the resolution desired, and the capabilities of the recording device. The preferred embodiment employs rotating fisheye lenses for a substantially full-sphere field of view. Additional sensors in the same arrangement are used to increase resolution and light sensitivity through multiplexed or additive recording of the image data.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2004Date of Patent: September 7, 2010Assignee: Immersive Media Co.Inventor: David Johnstone McCutchen

Patent number: 6886504Abstract: An engine of reciprocating piston type includes a cylinder block (4) with one or more cylinders (2), each of which receives a respective piston (10) and is defined by a respective cylinder barrel (8), which is integral with the reminder of the cylinder block. The outer surface of each cylinder barrel (8) carries a plurality of substantially circumferential discontinuous reinforcing ribs, each comprising a plurality of elongate projections (12) spaced apart by gaps (14). Each projection (12) in each rib is in registry with a gap in the or each adjacent rib, when viewed in the direction of the length of the associated cylinder barrel.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2002Date of Patent: May 3, 2005Assignee: Ricardo Consulting Engineers LimitedInventor: Ian David Johnstone

Publication number: 20040212193Abstract: A fluid connector comprising a body having bore. Apertures disposed about a portion of the body allow a fluid flow to communicate with the bore. Sealing members on a body surface engage cooperating sealing surfaces on component members to be joined. An end of the body is formed to connect the fluid connector to a component member.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 8, 2002Publication date: October 28, 2004Inventor: Ian David Johnstone

Patent number: 6035813Abstract: An engine of reciprocating piston type includes a cylinder block which defines one or more cylinders and connected to which is a cylinder head closing the cylinders. Each cylinder reciprocably receives a respective piston and is defined by a respective cylinder barrel which is integral with the remainder of the cylinder block only at one or both ends. The remainder of the length of the cylinder barrel is spaced from the remainder of the cylinder block in the radial direction by a gap which constitutes a cooling passage. The wall of the cylinder barrel affords a plurality of circumferentially spaced ribs extending in the longitudinal direction of the cylinder lining over at least a proportion of its length.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1998Date of Patent: March 14, 2000Assignee: Ricardo Consulting Engineers LimitedInventor: Ian David Johnstone
