  • Patent number: 8025261
Abstract: A stand used for supporting spools of wire and the like includes a cam which is operable to increase the length of a leg to thereby raise the spool of wire off of the ground. The stand is adjustable to allow its use with different sizes of spools of wire. The stand allows a single person to raise a spool of wire weighing thousands of pounds off of the ground and support the same to allow the spool to rotate freely upon an axle.

  • Patent number: 7991976
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program manager for a computing system memory in the operation of a computing process. At least one memory segment provides memory resources for the computing process, which includes a plurality of memory objects, each of the memory objects includes an equal number of bytes and has a predetermined order that associates the address of the memory object in the memory segment to the addresses of the remainder of the plurality of memory objects. A pointer identifies a first memory object from the plurality of memory objects. The first memory object occupies a first ordered position according to the predetermined order. The process allocates the first memory objects from the memory segment during the operation of the computing process. The pointer increments to a second memory object having a second ordered position relative to the first memory object.

  • Patent number: 7965413
Abstract: A method and system detects a halftone frequency. A digitized image is received. An autocorrelation function is performed upon the digitized image to generate an autocorrelation function value for each halftone frequency of a predetermined set of possible halftone frequencies. A demerit term for each possible halftone frequency, based upon the autocorrelation function value, is calculated. A halftone frequency from a predetermined set of possible halftone frequencies, based upon the calculated demerit terms, is selected.

  • Publication number: 20100310742
Abstract: A method for packaging products, such as any solid or semi-solid product, utilizes a horizontal form, fill and seal (HFFS) system, coupled with a method for subjecting the packages to positive pressure differential while packaging. In the HFFS system, product receiving cavities are formed in a lower film, with each product being arranged in a respective cavity. The loaded product receiving cavities are positioned in a sealing unit, with an upper film above the product cavities. The sealing unit is closed and a lower chamber of the sealing unit is pressurized to force the lower film against the product, while the product abuts a standoff member, in order to remove existing headspace. After minimizing the headspace, a sealing head seals the upper film to the lower film about the product receiving cavities. Thereafter, the pressure is released, the sealing unit is opened and the package can be further processed.

  • Publication number: 20100265835
Abstract: The disclosure presents a system, method, and computer readable medium for computing network latencies. Network devices using flow processors create network traffic summary information in the form of flow records. A harvester may gather, process, and analyze flow records to find matching flows. Using matching flows, a harvester computes the latency, either one-way or round-trip, between two devices on the network. This information may be exported or stored on other devices on the network. The teachings of the present disclosure enable wide network coverage through the use of existing network traffic summary records. Further, the present disclosure mitigates network slowdowns associated with monitoring equipment. The present disclosure also reduces or eliminates the need for clock synchronization between devices on the network.

  • Publication number: 20100102286
Abstract: A system for installing wire and the like in a conduit which includes a plurality of wire pulling grips and a puling jacket is provided. The wire pulling jacket encloses the wire pulling grips and keeps them bundled together, making it easier for an operator to use the same. The wire pulling jacket protects the pulling grips by preventing the grips from catching on the conduit, and also keeps the pulling grips clean. The pulling jacket also increases operator safety by reducing the risk that the operator gets a finger, glove, or other part of the body caught in the wire puling grips as these are pulled into the conduit.

  • Publication number: 20090244089
Abstract: A computer readable storage medium includes executable instructions to calculate a default number of major tick marks as a function of a minimum distance between major tick marks and the length of a GUI control. A whole number of major tick marks that evenly divides a range of values to be mapped along the length of the GUI control is iteratively searched. A whole number of major tick marks is displayed along the length of the GUI control. The default number of major tick marks is the origin from which the search begins.

  • Publication number: 20090224220
Abstract: A wire pulling grip easy and reliably grips wire for pulling the same through a conduit or the like. The grip has cams which maintain contact with the wire even when tension is not applied and regardless of the orientation of the grip, significantly reducing the likelihood that the connection with the wire is lost. The cams are selectively releasable to allow the wire to be easily removed from the grip.

  • Publication number: 20090009587
Abstract: Conferencing methods and systems are disclosed wherein tags are associated with conferencing endpoints. The tags provide information enabling a decision-making entity to determine the preferability of one or more processing aspects of the endpoints. In a multipoint conference a tag can allow a decision making entity such as an MCU to determine the most appropriate mode for rendering video or other signals sent from a tagged endpoint. The tag itself can indicate the most appropriate mode or can contain information from which the decision-making entity can determine the most appropriate mode using an algorithm. A tag can be associated with an endpoint manually, for example based on a user's or controller's inputs concerning the endpoint. Alternatively, the tag can be assigned automatically based on automatically sensing one or more conditions at an endpoint or analyzing one or more parameters of a data stream transmitted from the endpoint.

  • Patent number: 7460276
Abstract: One aspect of the invention provides a method of halftoning an image which involves determining a quantization error for a selected target pixel of an image, selecting a diffusion mask, the mask relating to the target pixel and pixels neighboring thereto, receiving a first pair of neighboring pixel values for a first pixel pair including a first neighboring pixel and a second neighboring pixel, and receiving a second pair of neighboring pixel values for a second pixel pair including a third neighboring pixel and a fourth neighboring pixel. The method further involves determining a ranking order of the first, second, third and fourth neighboring pixels by comparing pixel values of the first, second, third and fourth neighboring pixels, and diffusing error to at least one of the first, second, third and fourth neighboring pixels based on the determined ranking order of the first, second, third and fourth neighboring pixels.
