  • Patent number: 10871071
Abstract: A rotary engine includes a rotor coupled to a shaft, the rotor having a first side wall, a second opposing side wall, and a rim extending between the first side wall and the second side wall. A piston extends from the rim of the rotor. A pressure chamber is defined by a face of the piston, the interior surface of a housing, and the rim of the rotor. An inlet directs fluid through the housing and into the pressure chamber. A backpressure flap is pivotably attached to the interior surface of the housing. An outlet directs fluid from the pressure chamber to the exterior of the housing. An effluent flap is pivotably attached to the interior surface of the housing. The inlet and outlets are closed when their respective flaps sealingly engage an interior surface of the housing.

  • Patent number: 10312539
Abstract: A system and method for storage and retrieval of energy includes storage of energy by performing electrolysis of water and directing the resulting hydrogen gas and oxygen gas to respective storage tanks. Energy is retrieved by directing hydrogen gas and oxygen gas from the storage tanks to a fuel cell where the hydrogen and oxygen are reacted to produce electricity and water. Water from the fuel cell is directed to a reservoir for subsequent electrolysis.

  • Patent number: 7854119
Abstract: The present invention provides a hydroelectric device having a closed conduit portion extending along an elevational drop, with a turbine positioned at a lower elevation and in fluid communication with the closed conduit portion. The closed conduit portion contains a volume of fluid forming a pressure head therein, the fluid impacting the turbine in such a manner as to operate the turbine and produce electricity therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20090120779
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a device for producing potable water and increasing the humidity of ambient air. The device includes a housing with an interior space and having an upper surface and an outlet. At least the upper surface of the housing is constructed from a material adapted to admit electromagnetic radiation into the interior of the housing for the purpose of heating the interior of the housing. Water within the interior of the housing is vaporized and exits the housing through the outlet.

  • Publication number: 20090090354
Abstract: The present invention provides a device for pumping water from a depth. The device includes a pressure-containing conduit with a first end located at a depth within a body of water, an inlet portion in fluid communication with the pressure-containing conduit to allow water to enter therethrough, a float portion for maintaining the device at a desired depth, a boiler mirror for reflecting light at the pressure-containing conduit, thereby heating water contained therein, and an outlet portion for water to exit the device, preferably in the form of water vapor.
