  • Patent number: 7693623
Abstract: A snow removal system wherein snow removers located in remote locations can be monitored and controlled at a computing device. Data collected by sensors on the snow removal unit or data collected from a secondary source can be used to control the operation of the snow removers. In one embodiment, data regarding whether it is snowing at a particular location can be collected by moister sensors on the snow removal device and verified by on-line contemporaneous weather reports corresponding to the same location.

  • Patent number: 5449208
Abstract: A track switch snow melter duct connection system including end flanges with a top portion, each end flange being attached to a distal end portion on a duct which is to be connected such that the top portion extends outward and above the distal end portion. Side flanges are also attached to each duct and extend outward such that a gap exists between the distal end portion of each duct and the side flange. The connection system also includes an attachment mechanism for attaching the top portion of end flanges on adjacent ducts and a connecting member which can be slidably inserted between adjacent ducts having an elongate channel shape formed by a base and two side legs and two extensions extending from and attached to the distal end of the two side legs. The connecting member has a width such that two connected end flanges can be positioned between the two side legs and such that the extensions are positioned in the gap between the side flanges and distal end portion of each duct.

  • Patent number: 4666108
Abstract: A railroad crossing gate (20) is disclosed having a novel crossing arm (24) which includes a first longitudinal arm (26) member with a telescopically inserted second longitudinal arm member (28). The second arm member (28) is slideable to any one of a plurality of extendable positions and a fastener plate (100) disposed between the first and second members (26, 28) is provided for urging the second member (28) against the first member (26) in friction locking engagement. A plurality of gate lamps (38) are provided having a housing (40) which includes a channel for receiving an upper edge of the crossing arm (24). Screws (50) on both sides of the housing (40) are turned until the housing (40) is secured to the crossing arm (24) in a friction fit. Extensible cables (70) with three-pronged connections connect the gate lamps (38) to circuitry to operate the gate lamps (38) in a predetermined pattern.
