  • Patent number: 9169134
Abstract: A sealing arrangement for sealing a quartz tube with a UV lamp therein and electrical cable extending therefrom through the lid of a pressurized fluid purification vessel. In one version, a tubular fitting, threaded on opposite ends, is received over an end of the quartz tube and threadedly engaged in an aperture in the lid and sealed with a first annular seal, a second annular seal in the tubular fitting seals about the quartz tube. A compression nut with an axial extension threadedly engages the opposite end of the tubular fitting and a strain/flexure relief is threaded into the axial extension. In a second version, the second annular seal comprises a flexible sleeve with a member having resilient radially deflectable fingers compressed thereon by a compression nut; and, duplicates of these parts employed to seal about the electrical cable.

  • Publication number: 20140291261
Abstract: A fluid filtering system with backwashing, particularly for ballast tanks, employing a pump with its inlet connected to receive fluid to be filtered and the outlet of the pump to a unified filtering vessel with apparatus for sequentially backwashing individual filter media elements and connecting the backwash to a drain. The unified filtering vessel has a filtrate outlet connected through a valve for filtering flow to/from ballast tanks. The filtrate outlet is also connected through another valve to the inlet of the pump for including clean filtrate in the backwashing.

  • Publication number: 20130319925
Abstract: A fluid treatment system having in one version an irradiation chamber with UV lamps with a swirl vane pack in the inlet for effecting clockwise and counterclockwise swirl in fluid entering the chamber. Other versions employ a central filter media element with an irradiation chamber with UV lamps disposed annularly thereabout. In other versions, mechanical wiper discs are provided for wiping debris from the filter media and the lamp tubes. In other versions, the UV lamps are in a central irradiation chamber with plural filter media tubes arrayed annularly there around. In other versions, mechanical wipers are provided for the UV tubes and a rotating drain arm is provided for backwashing individual filter tubes. In other versions, the central filter and annularly arrayed UV tubes are mounted in a pressure vessel lid.

  • Patent number: 6748399
Abstract: DNA scientific evidences include analysis fact, principles, theories, and underlying data. Courtroom admissibility of DNA scientific evidence requires courts to scrutinize their quality and suitability. Expert witnesses must collect, understand science, and apply to the facts of the case. To uniformly and comprehensively present DNA scientific evidence generated by paper-based casework has been time-consuming, erroneous, and personal chores because of vast paper volume; the degree of courtroom admissibility is arbitrary assessment among courtroom parties. The inventive method employs computer network to gather DNA scientific evidence and retain them using Electronic Case Folder (ECF), database categorizing DNA scientific evidence in defined sequence with page number and time stamp.

  • Publication number: 20010034756
Abstract: Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)-driven Digital Network Architecture monitors, tracks laboratory routines and creates electronic records. The invention enables laboratory scientists to design, manage, control, and reproduce laboratory routines. The invention creates electronic system to identify where, who and when the quality deteriorates in laboratories. SOPs mean instructions of which texts for scientists and directives for computers. Methods include two mutual computer-aided processes—SOP management and laboratory routine. Both processes start with user authentication, security group, security access to SOPs and laboratory routine. Further SOP management that may not be subsequent is defining and refining contents of SOPs; version control, retirement and assignment of SOP to specimens.
