  • Patent number: 6638528
Abstract: Compositions and methods for the transdermal delivery of active agents up to a period of seven days or more at substantially a zero-order release rate comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable adhesive matrix and a polymeric plastic material that provides a release rate regulating effect on the active agents.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 1, 2002
Date of Patent: October 28, 2003
    Assignee: Noven Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
    Inventor: David Kanios
  • Publication number: 20030170195
Abstract: A dermal composition for administration of an amphetamine drug comprising a blend of two or more acrylic-based polymers having differing functionalities so as to modulate the drug solubility in the polymer matrix and the delivery rate of the drug, and methods therefor.
    Type: Application
    Filed: November 5, 2002
    Publication date: September 11, 2003
    Applicant: Noven Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Inventors: David Houze, Juan Mantelle, David Kanios
  • Patent number: 6562363
Abstract: Bioadhesive compositions in a flexible, finite form for topical application to skin or mucous membranes comprising a composition which results from an admixture of at least one PVP polymer, at least one bioadhesive, optionally a pharmaceutically acceptable solvent suitable for use with an active agent, and methods of administering active agents to a subject, are disclosed. The bioadhesive composition can either include an active agent incorporated directly in the composition, or a separate source of an active agent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 28, 1998
Date of Patent: May 13, 2003
    Assignee: Noven Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Inventors: Juan Mantelle, David Houze, David Kanios
  • Patent number: 6465004
Abstract: A composition and method for the continuous and controlled transdermal delivery of an active agent comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable active agent carrier and cellulose derivative which provides a solubilizing and stabilizing effect on the active agents incorporated therein.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 5, 2000

  • Publication number: 20010048987
Abstract: Compositions and methods for producing laminate materials in packaging a transdermal drug delivery system comprising a rubber modified acrylonitrile methyl acrylate copolymer film, alone or in combination with a polyester film, wherein the active drug incorporated in the transdermal system remains substantially solubilized and stable in the system during storage prior to use. The packaging laminate is preferably translucent to allow visual inspection of its contents, and has sufficient tear resistance to substantially provide child resistant and/or proof properties.

  • Patent number: 5725876
Abstract: A dermal composition for transdermal administration of nicotine includes a blend of: one or more acrylic-based polymers in an amount of from about 10-90% w/w, nicotine in an amount of from about 3 to 15% w/w, and a cohesiveness increasing amount of one or more low-swell clays in an amount of from about 0.5 to 30% w/w. The low-swell clay has a swell of 3-23 mls as determined by the bentonite USP/NF swelling power test. Also disclosed is a method for producing a dermal composition and a method for increasing the cohesiveness of a nicotine containing dermal composition.
