A protective member is received in the channel and positioned to inhibit contact between a side edge of the card edge module and the one of the first and second end portions of the housing when the card edge module is loaded into the connector.

    Abstract: An ultraminiature coax connector (UMCC) is provided for terminating a coaxial cable. The UMCC includes an electrically conductive housing extending between a cable-receiving end portion and a mating end portion. The cable-receiving end portion being is configured to engage an insulating cover of the coaxial cable. The mating end portion is configured to engage another UMCC. The housing includes an outer electrical contact at the mating end portion. The outer electrical contact includes an outer diameter in the range of approximately one millimeter to approximately four millimeters or an inner diameter in the range of approximately one millimeter to approximately four millimeters. An insulating member is by the housing. An inner electrical contact is held by the insulating member. The inner electrical contact includes a plug contact portion that is configured to be received by a receptacle contact portion of the other UMCC.

The second plug contact end portion is configured to be received within the second receptacle contact of the second coaxial cable connector. The base includes at least one channel extending between the rear and interface ends. The electrical connector also includes at least one conductive wafer configured to engage electrical contacts. Each conductive wafer is divided into a rear portion and an interface portion. The rear portion is received and securely retained in a channel with the interface portion extending beyond the interface end of the base. The interface portion moves in a direction transverse to a plane of the conductive wafer to facilitate alignment with a mating structure.

    Abstract: A multichannel radiotelephony system provides two way cordless communications with a plurality of multichannel transceivers portable within a coverage area comprised by a plurality of cells, each associated with a base station and antennas, such as to permit channel frequency reuse in cells within the coverage area. For at least part of the coverage area, the locations of the antennas within the cells and the locations of the base stations are independently mapped, the antennas being associated with active antenna systems and the active antenna systems being connected to the base stations utilizing broadband transmission by means of a fixed bi-directional signal distribution network. The network is connected to the base stations and the antenna systems through suitable interfaces incorporating frequency translation so that available frequency bands in the signal distribution network which will normally be shared with other services, may be utilised. Plural base stations may be co-located.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a make-before-break switch of the type for electrical connector, where the connector is intended to be mated with a complementary coaxial cable connector. The switching connector comprises a pair of spaced-apart, cantilevered switch contacts mounted within a dielectric housing, where such mating is between the pair of switch contacts. A unique feature hereof is that the shank portion of one of the switch contacts has a contact arm extending toward and in contact with the shank portion of the other switch contact in an unmated condition, and that the respective mating ends of the switch contacts are axially offset from one another. By this arrangement, upon mating by the complementary connector, contact is made sequentially with the mating ends and the contact arm is caused to wipe along the shank portion of the first switch contact to counter the effects of contaminants and oxides which may be present at the contact point.
