Abstract: A system for providing external notification of a vehicle event to an operator includes a reader device connected to a control unit providing status of at least one vehicle condition with the vehicle having a diesel particulate filter (DPF), a plurality of warning devices connected to the reader device and a power supply connected to the reader device and to the warning devices wherein the reader device receives data via data lines from the control unit, decodes the received data to determine the occurrence of a vehicle event relating to the DPF and controls ground signal lines of the warning devices to trigger at least one of the warning devices based on the detection of a particular event.

Abstract: A event-driven portable data bus message logger includes an event message receiver for receiving an event message including an event field, an event message storage operably connected to the event message receiver for storing the event message, a data bus message receiver for receiving data bus messages including a data field and a data checksum, a comparator for comparing a current data field of a current data bus message to the event field; and a trigger operably connected to the comparator for storing the current data bus message, a preceding data bus message, and a subsequent data bus message in a snapshot storage if the current data field is substantially similar to the event field.

Abstract: A vehicle speed reducing system for limiting the speed of a vehicle is provided. The vehicle speed reducing system includes a detector unit for determining a suspension status and a road speed of a vehicle, and outputting a suspension status signal and a vehicle speed signal. A vehicle control device determines whether the vehicle is driven at a non-standard ride height (i.e., air suspended) and exceeds a predetermined maximum speed limit based on the suspension status signal and the vehicle speed signal, respectively. An engine control device limits the speed of the vehicle to a predetermined minimum speed limit if it is determined that the vehicle is driven at the non-standard ride height and exceeds the predetermined maximum speed limit. Since the air suspended vehicle is limited to a minimum speed limit, damage to the vehicle's components is prevented.
