Abstract: System and method for receiving a search query for a commodity at a procurement system. The procurement system retrieves an internal listing of items from an internal catalog that pertain to the commodity being searched. Furthermore, the search query is transmitted to APIs of external catalogs organized in iXML format and retrieves an external listing of items pertaining to the commodity. Both the internal and external items are stored in a temporary searchable database that is accessible to a buyer. The external hems and internal items are compared and then select items added to a shopping cart for subsequent purchase requisition and/or purchase order.
