  • Patent number: 10297095
Abstract: Features are disclosed for accurately authenticating a delivery agent for unattended delivery of an item. The systems and methods described confirm the location of the delivery agent and proximity to the delivery location using short range wireless communications between a monitoring device at the delivery location and a communication device associated with the delivery agent. Access may also be conditioned on user specified “do not disturb” rules indicating when remote access is authorized. The authentication may be dynamically assessed such as based on a type of item being delivered.

  • Patent number: 10286962
Abstract: An improved joining process interlocks parts together and avoids breakthrough in joints that would otherwise be infeasible. The process is used to join a relatively thin rear part to a relatively thick front part. A dedicated backer plate is joined to the front and rear parts such that the rear part is sandwiched between the front part and the backer plate. The front part, rear part, and backer plate are plastically deformed to establish interlock by insertion of a self-piercing rivet, clinching, or insertion of a flow drill screw.

  • Publication number: 20190140116
Abstract: Laser foil trim approaches for foil-based metallization of solar cells, and the resulting solar cells, are described. For example, a method of fabricating a solar cell includes attaching a metal foil sheet to a surface of a wafer to provide a unified pairing of the metal foil sheet and the wafer, wherein the wafer has a perimeter and the metal foil sheet has a portion overhanging the perimeter. The method also includes laser scribing the metal foil sheet along the perimeter of the wafer using a laser beam that overlaps the metal foil sheet outside of the perimeter of the wafer and at the same time overlaps a portion of the unified pairing of the metal foil sheet and the wafer inside the perimeter of the wafer to remove the portion of the metal foil sheet overhanging the perimeter and to provide a metal foil piece coupled to the surface of the wafer.

  • Publication number: 20190096008
Abstract: A method is provided for processing data to replicate lifecycle threads in the development of a structural product. The method includes defining a source lifecycle thread from process-related information for development of the structural product, and defining and matching a target lifecycle thread to the source lifecycle thread. The process, and source and target lifecycle thread are expressible as respectively a network and sub-networks of tasks described by a plurality of attributes. Defining and matching the target lifecycle thread includes selecting a plurality of candidate target tasks from the plurality of tasks; matching a candidate target task to a particular source task using a distance map for an attribute of the plurality of attributes, with the distance map including only unique values of the attribute and distances between the unique values; and back-chaining through the source lifecycle thread to match candidate target tasks with respective source tasks.
