Publication number: 20240329861Abstract: An apparatus includes circuitry to receive a memory access request based on a memory address in a memory allocation of a program. The memory allocation is assigned to a slot of memory apportioned into a plurality of slots. The circuitry is to calculate an index based, at least in part, on whether a size of the slot exceeds a slot threshold size, and determine whether a buffer communicatively coupled to the circuitry includes a buffer entry corresponding to the index and containing a set of metadata associated with the memory allocation. Based on the slot size, the circuitry is to calculate the index by either determining a metadata virtual address or by determining a virtual address of a midpoint of the slot. The indexed data may include bounds and tag information for the circuitry to determine if a memory access is within the bounds and matches the tag value.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 31, 2023Publication date: October 3, 2024Applicant: Intel CorporationInventors: Yonghae Kim, David M. Patent number: 12092820Abstract: Virtual reality (VR) displays are computer displays that present images or video in a manner that simulates a real experience for the viewer. In many cases, VR displays are implemented as head-mounted displays (HMDs) which provide a display in the line of sight of the user. Because current HMDs are composed of a display panel and magnifying lens with a gap therebetween, proper functioning of the HMDs limits their design to a box-like form factor, thereby negatively impacting both comfort and aesthetics. The present disclosure provides a different configuration for a virtual reality display which allows for improved comfort and aesthetics, including specifically at least one coherent light source, at least one holographic waveguide coupled to the at least one coherent light source to receive light therefrom, and at least one spatial light modulator coupled to the at least one holographic waveguide to modulate the light.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2021Date of Patent: September 17, 2024Assignee: NVIDIA CORPORATIONInventors: Jonghyun Kim, Ward Lopes, David Luebke, Manu Gopakumar

Patent number: 12073028Abstract: Techniques of identifying gestures include detecting and classifying inner-wrist muscle motions at a user's wrist using micron-resolution radar sensors. For example, a user of an AR system may wear a band around their wrist. When the user makes a gesture to manipulate a virtual object in the AR system as seen in a head-mounted display (HMD), muscles and ligaments in the user's wrist make small movements on the order of 1-3 mm. The band contains a small radar device that has a transmitter and a number of receivers (e.g., three) of electromagnetic (EM) radiation on a chip (e.g., a Soli chip. This radiation reflects off the wrist muscles and ligaments and is received by the receivers on the chip in the band. The received reflected signal, or signal samples, are then sent to processing circuitry for classification to identify the wrist movement as a gesture.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2023Date of Patent: August 27, 2024Assignee: GOOGLE LLCInventors: Dongeek Shin, Shahram Izadi, David Kim, Sofien Bouaziz, Steven Benjamin Goldberg, Ivan Poupyrev, Shwetak N.
