  • Patent number: 12658068
Abstract: A motion platform comprises a base portion and an occupant carrier portion. The occupant carrier portion is linearly moveable along, and rotationally moveable about, first, second, and third orthogonal axes. The base portion comprises first, second, and third control pillars each extend along the third axis with a predetermined height. The control pillars are linearly moveable in a plane defined by the first and second axes and are mechanically constrained to move only in that plane. The occupant carrier portion comprises first, second, and third guide portions that are pivotally connected to the first, second, and third control pillars respectively by a respective coupling member. Each of the guide portions is angled with respect to the plane defined by the first and second axes such that they are not parallel to the plane. The guide portions are also angled with respect to each other such that they are not parallel with each other.

  • Publication number: 20260069989
Abstract: A motion generation apparatus (1000); (2000) for a motion platform system has a plurality of motion control arrangements (1201), (1202), (1203) that include control members (1211), (1212), (1213) and couplings (1241), (1242), (1243) configured to engage respective inclined portions (1251), (1252), (1253) of the control members. Laterally driving the or each respective control member forces the or each respective coupling in a direction along an inclined path P1, P2, P3 to impart a vertical force to a portion (1801), (1802), (1803) of a motion platform (1800). Motion and positioning of the platform (1800) is determined by the combined movement and/or positioning of the control members (1211), (1212), (1213).

  • Publication number: 20220254269
Abstract: A motion platform (2) comprises a base portion (6) and an occupant carrier portion (4). The occupant carrier portion (4) is linearly moveable along, and rotationally moveable about, first, second, and third orthogonal axes. The base portion (6) comprises first, second, and third control pillars (16, 18, 20) each extend along the third axis with a predetermined height. The control pillars (16, 18, 20) are linearly moveable in a plane defined by the first and second axes and are mechanically constrained to move only in that plane. The occupant carrier portion (4) comprises first, second, and third guide portions (28, 30, 32) that are pivotally connected to the first, second, and third control pillars (16, 18, 20) respectively by a respective coupling member (22, 24, 26). Each of the guide portions (28 30, 32) is angled with respect to the plane defined by the first and second axes such that they are not parallel to the plane.

  • Patent number: 10056007
Abstract: A motion simulator (10) has a body tub (12) fixed on a carrier platform (14), the carrier platform being supported via motion control apparatus (52, 54, 56, 58), each having bearings which translate along an inclined path, the motion control apparatuses together providing six degrees of motion for the carrier platform.
