  • Publication number: 20210238895
Abstract: A door has a latch mechanism, a reinforcement bracket and a jamming bracket within a cavity of the door. The latch mechanism retains the door in a closed orientation and in response to operation of the latch mechanism the door is released for movement to an open orientation. The reinforcement bracket is fixedly attached to structures of the vehicle door. The jamming bracket is fixed to the reinforcement bracket and has a locking portion that extends to an area adjacent to a release lever of the latch mechanism. With the door in a non-deformed state, the release lever is movable between a door opened orientation and a door closed orientation. In response to deformation of the door resulting from an exterior impact force, the locking portion of the jamming bracket moves toward the release lever preventing the release lever from moving to the door opened orientation.

Abstract: A vehicle door assembly with an inner door panel, an outer door panel and a reinforcement assembly. A first attachment area is defined adjacent to an upper edge and a forward edge and a second attachment area is defined adjacent to the upper edge and a rearward edge of the inner door panel. The inner door panel and the outer door panel are fixedly attached to one another and define a hollow space therebetween. The reinforcement assembly has a first end fixedly attached to the first attachment area of the inner door panel and a second end fixedly attached to the second attachment area of the inner door panel. A mid-section extends of the reinforcement assembly extends along the upper edge of the outer door panel. • Patent number: 9562383
Abstract: A hinge hydraulic infinite check structure includes a paddle having at least one hydraulic aperture is rigidly fixed to a shaft. The pivot shaft is supported for pivoting movement within a case. The case includes a wall portion rigidly fixed to a cylindrically shaped inner surface and extends radially inward to the shaft. Pivoting movement of the pivot shaft forces the hydraulic fluid to move through the aperture from a first side to a second side of the paddle generating movement resistance. With the pivot shaft being stationary relative to the fluid chamber, equilibrium of fluid pressure of the hydraulic fluid at the first side and the second side of the paddle imparts a resistance to pivoting movement of the pivot shaft relative to the fluid chamber.

  • Patent number: 9322198
Abstract: A latch assembly includes a door latch member and a release member. The door latch member pivots between a latched position and an unlatched position. The release member is movably coupled to the door latch member to move the door latch member from the latched position to the unlatched position. An inertia activated lock-out mechanism includes a locking member and a counterweight. The locking member moves between a locking position that prevents movement of the door latch member from the latched position to the unlatched position, and a non-interfering position in which the door latch member operates between the latched position and the unlatched position. The counterweight moves the locking member to the locking position in response to an inertial force exceeding a threshold level being applied to the vehicle door latch mechanism.
