The base is shaped to be disposed between a mattress and a box spring so that the base is maintained in a generally horizontal orientation. The support post is constructed of a material that is softer than the material of the bore of a pistol and is preferably formed of a carbon fiber material. The support post is attached to the base and extends in a direction that crosses, but is not perpendicular to, a plane associated with the base. The support post is constructed to be received in a bore of a pistol and oriented to align a grip of the pistol with a palm of a prone user.
