  • Publication number: 20230220742
Abstract: A method for use of biomass waste to seal a well, includes the steps of: locating a well to be sealed, the well having a lower plug and casing; providing biomass waste; introducing the biomass waste into the casing of the well to fill the casing with the biomass waste to a level above the lower plug; and setting an upper plug immediately above the level of biomass waste.

  • Patent number: 11679424
Abstract: A method for disposing of biomass waste. The method includes locating an abandoned mine having a first well drilled into or through the abandoned mine. Water is removed from a mine cavity through a second well drilled into or through the abandoned mine. The water from the mine is combined with a biomass waste that is at least 70 wt. % carbon to provide biomass waste entrained in the water. The biomass waste entrained in the water is pumped through the first well into the mine cavity to fill the mine cavity. As the biomass waste settles in the mine cavity, the water used to entrain the biomass waste is recirculated to combine with additional biomass waste.

  • Publication number: 20110309022
Abstract: A system and method for recovering oil/water compositions from waterways and wetlands and for separating oil and water from one another. The system includes a plurality of polymeric sorbent articles for collection of oil/water compositions from waterways or wetlands. A centrifuge treatment system having a centrifuge housing, a cover and a rotatable basket is configured for receiving the plurality polymer sorbent articles containing oil/water compositions for removal of oil/water compositions therefrom. Fluids extracted from the sorbent materials are collected in a collection tank in flow communication with an annular area of the centrifuge. A centrifugal oil/water separation unit is provided for essentially continuous separation of oil and water from one another with an efficiency of at least 97%. The system optionally includes a polishing unit for treatment of the water to provide substantially hydrocarbon free water.

  • Patent number: 6383394
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for rendering waste sorbent material recyclable. The method includes collecting polymer-based sorbent materials containing one or more solvents, treating the waste material in a centrifugal treatment system for removing the solvents from the polymer-based sorbent materials whereby the sorbent materials have a residual solvent content that renders the materials non-hazardous for transportation to a remote recycling site. The treatment system includes a fume collection system and a centrifuge disposed in the fume collection system. The sorbent materials are charged into the centrifuge and the centrifuge is operated for extractive removal of solvents therefrom and collection of the extracted solvents. The sorbent materials are rendered non-hazardous by the centrifugal treatment system enabling the materials to be taken off site for use in making recycled parts.

  • Patent number: 6143170
Abstract: A portable system for recovering oil-based fluids from sorbent articles containing oil-based fluids, the system including a motor vehicle and a self-balancing centrifuge having a housing and a foraminous rotatable basket removably attached to a spindle in the housing, the centrifuge being attached to the vehicle for transport to a remote site, the basket having a solid base having a mass sufficient to provide self-balancing rotation of the basket and the basket being configured for receiving a plurality of the sorbent articles therein, wherein rotation of the centrifuge basket applies sufficient centrifugal force to the sorbent articles to cause removal of oil-based fluids therefrom such that the fluids travel from the basket into an annular area between the basket and the housing and from the housing to a fluid recovery tank and the sorbent articles are essentially fluid free.

  • Patent number: 5819437
Abstract: An improved industrial dryer adapted for more efficient, quieter and safer operation. The dryer blower has a relatively large size blower wheel adapted for generating high volume air flows at substantially reduced noise levels so as not to disrupt the work environment nor necessitate that workers wear ear protection. The blower is mounted on a pivotal door of the housing for easy access and an adjacent air feed cone is mounted for selective adjustable positioning into axial relation with the blower wheel for efficient air distribution. The dryer includes a burner adapted for generating a multi-leg, relatively short length discharge flame for enhancing fuel combustion and maximizing surface area over which air passes and is heated as it is drawn to the tumbler of the dryer.
