  • Patent number: 5571286
Abstract: A process for shrink-proofing wool which comprises treating the wool with specific polymers and prepolymers derived from polyoxyalkyleneamines.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 7, 1994
Date of Patent: November 5, 1996
    Assignee: Precision Processes (Textiles) Limited
Inventors: David L. Connell, Anthony Szpala
  • Patent number: 5445652
Abstract: A method for imparting a softer handle to cellulosic fibres which comprises treating the fibres with a) an amino functional polymer and b) silicone polymer capable of reacting with the reactive groupings of the amino functional polymer, so as to cause the polymers a) and b) to be applied to the cellulosic fibres. The method may be performed either as a continuous process or as a batch process.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 12, 1993
Date of Patent: August 29, 1995
    Assignee: Precision Processes Textiles
Inventors: David L. Connell, Kenneth M. Huddlestone, Anthony Szpala
  • Patent number: 5438116
Abstract: Polymers and prepolymers derived from polyoxyalkyleneamines. The polymers and prepolymers may be used in a process for the treatment of wool so as to impart shrink resistance.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 24, 1990
Date of Patent: August 1, 1995
    Assignee: Precision Processes (Textiles) Limited
    Inventor: David L. Connell
  • Patent number: 5087266
Abstract: A method for the treatment of wool so as to impart shrink resistance comprising the steps of:i) subjecting the wool to an oxidative pretreatment, andii) subsequently treating the wool with a) an amino functional polymer which itself confers a degree of shrink resistance and b) a silicone polymer capable of reacting with the reactive groupings of the amino functional polymer, so as to cause the polymers a) and b) to be applied to the wool fibers. The wool thus treated also has good rub fastness when dyed and a soft handle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 7, 1988
Date of Patent: February 11, 1992
    Assignee: Precision Processes (Textiles) Limited
Inventors: David L. Connell, Kenneth M. Huddlestone, Anthony Szpala
  • Patent number: 4754032

  • Patent number: 4671883
Abstract: Fluid loss control additives for oil-based well-working fluids comprise a solubilized lignite derivative and an oil-swellable or oil-soluble polymer. The solubilized lignite derivative may be oil-solubilized (e.g. a lignite/amine complex) or water-solubilized (e.g. causticized lignite) and may be incorporated in a polymer matrix or added to a dispersion of a polymer in an aqueous medium.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 12, 1985
Date of Patent: June 9, 1987
    Assignee: Sandoz Ltd.
Inventors: David L. Connell, Anthony J. Gradwell
  • Patent number: 4501672
Abstract: A fluid loss reducing additive for an oil-based well working fluid is the product of mixing together, in an oil or oil-based fluid, lignite or humic acid with an aliphatic amide or hydroxyamide, or a cyclic derivative thereof, containing no primary or secondary amine or amine salt groups.
