  • Publication number: 20240122276
Abstract: Aspects herein are directed to an apparel item that promotes thermo-regulation through the use of engineered openings, venting, and/or stand-off structures. In exemplary aspects, 20-45% of the apparel item may comprise the engineered openings. Vents may be positioned on the apparel item in areas that experience high amounts of air flow to help channel air into the apparel item. The stand-off structures may be positioned on an inner-facing surface of the apparel item where they help to create a space between the apparel item and the wearer's body surface in which air can flow and help cool the wearer by promoting evaporative cooling.

  • Patent number: 8029616
Abstract: A cover composition that can be applied to a bulk material pile, such as landfill refuse, to protect the pile from wind, precipitation, and access by animals and insects is provided. The cover composition is a mixture of a liquid, typically, water; bentonite clay; and synthetic fibers. The composition may be enhanced by the addition of one or more of the following additives: Portland cement, pregelatinized wheat starch, synthetic polymers, soda ash, and latex paint. Unlike prior art cover compositions, the disclosed composition adheres well to waste material, most notably plastics, whereby the composition is easy to apply and provides a substantially uniform, durable protective cover to landfill refuse piles and other bulk materials. Methods of applying the composition to bulk material piles are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7849006
Abstract: A method for paying for an auction item at least partially using an online payment system by a payor to compensate a payee includes receiving at a host computer system payment information relating to a transaction. The payment information includes comprising at least a payee identifier, a first payment amount, and an auction identifier. The auction identifier relates to an auction that was won by the payor that was for the auction item. The method also includes generating a transaction identifier at the host computer system and transmitting the transaction identifier to the payor. The method further includes receiving at a retail location a payment and using the transaction identifier to relate the payment to the transaction. The method further includes making a second payment amount available to the payee. The second payment amount may be based on the payment.

  • Patent number: 7487127
Abstract: A method for facilitating the sale of goods or services comprises receiving at an ordering system payment information relating to a payment instrument that is being used to purchase a good or a service from a merchant. The ordering system transmits a message to the merchant that includes information on the good or service being purchased to permit the merchant to provide the good or service. Funds are collected from an account associated with the payment instrument, and the ordering system transmits to a money transfer computer system information useable by the money transfer computer system to provide a cash payment to the merchant.

  • Patent number: 7249607
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus for servicing landfill conduits are disclosed. These systems, methods, and apparatus employ structures which facilitate access to and the servicing of buried landfill conduits, for example, one or more buried landfill laterals. In one aspect, the systems include an enclosure, at least one inlet conduit passing into the enclosure, at least one outlet conduit passing out of the enclosure, and at least one service conduit having a valve and an access port positioned between the inlet conduit and the outlet conduit. In another aspect, methods and portable apparatuses are provided for introducing high-pressure fluids or vacuum to a landfill conduit, for example, by means of the access port in the service conduit, to remove or dislodge obstructions. Conduits connected to blowers and pumps are used to introduce or withdraw fluids from the landfill conduits, for example, from predetermined locations within the landfill conduits identified by remote sensing devices.

  • Publication number: 20030187792
Abstract: According to the invention, a method for paying for an item with an online payment system by a payor associated with a first currency to compensate a payee associated with a second currency is disclosed. In one step, a selection of the second currency for the online payment system to use when paying the payee is received. Payment information is also received from the payor or the payee and includes at least a payee identifier and a first payment amount. A money handler associated with the payor is used to provide at least the first payment amount. A conversion ratio between the first and second currencies is determined. A second payment amount is made available to the payee for pickup at a retail location. The first currency is different from the second currency. The second payment amount is related to the first payment amount.
