  • Patent number: 6516583
Abstract: This invention is a structural joint having a diagonal brace, beam and column fixedly attached with respect to each other by parallel gusset plates disposed in face-to-face relationship on opposite sides of the brace, beam and column and extending from the column along the sides of the beam and the brace. The other end of the diagonal brace may be attached to another structural joint of beam and column, or to another beam only, or to another column only, by fixedly attaching with respect each other, as the case may be, the parallel gusset plates disposed in face-to-face relationship on opposite sides of the brace, beam and column.

  • Publication number: 20030009977
Abstract: This invention relates to columnar, “primary support” for a building or other heavy structure, in which a beam is connected to a column in a strong, moment-resisting connection comprised of two gusset plates welded to a flange or the face of the flange of the column and welded to the beam or attached to cover plates fixedly attached to the beam.

  • Patent number: 6138427
Abstract: A moment resisting, beam-to-column connection, comprising two gusset plates attached to a column and extending along the sides of a beam and having connecting elements, for example, angle irons, which attach the gusset plates to the beam. The connecting elements are bolted, riveted or welded to the beam along its longitudinal direction and to the gusset plates.

  • Patent number: 5660017
Abstract: A steel moment resisting frame (SMRF) connection connects a vertical column to a horizontal beam. It is useful in both original and retrofit construction. A primary trunk assembly is comprised of two, vertical, parallel plates which are welded to the vertical column on opposing sides and which plates extend from the column along the sides of a horizontal beam. A secondary branch assembly is comprised of the horizontal beam and horizontal plates which are welded to the flanges of the horizontal beam. Such plates are welded also to the vertical parallel plates, thereby connecting the column to the beam. Additional plates may be welded between the web and flanges of the horizontal beam and the vertical, parallel plates and, also, between the web and flanges of the vertical column and the vertical, parallel plates.
