  • Patent number: 6242877
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling operation of a processing machine has a computer preferably with a computer aided design program configurable to model a kinematic velocity profile of a point of interest on a machine to be controlled. A graphical user interface on the computer enables an operator to select desired velocity points for a motor drive controlling motion of the point on the machine. A curve fit is applied to the velocity points to realize a desired velocity profile for the motor drive and the point on the machine. The desired velocity profile is then integrated and scaled in order to obtain a scaled velocity profile that realizes an actual, or target displacement of the point as dictated by operation of the machine. By controlling operation of elements of a machine with velocity profiles, coordination of associated elements and points on the machine can be visualized by an operator selecting the velocity points for each drive of the machine. A method for implementing same is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6193060
Abstract: A front opening cigarette box comprises a container portion and an integral cover portion which articulates between opened and closed positions. The container portion includes a front face, a rear face generally parallel to the front face, a bottom face, and spaced apart side walls interconnecting the front and rear faces. The cover portion includes a front face that fully covers the container portion when the cover portion is in its closed position. The cover portion also includes top and bottom faces, and a rear face contiguous with and forming a continuation of the rear face of the container portion when the cover portion is in its closed position. Spaced apart side walls on the cover portion interconnect the front and rear faces thereof. A hinge line extends between the rear faces of the container and cover portions, and the cover portion articulates about that hinge line between its opened and closed positions.

  • Patent number: 5077045
Abstract: A method for controlling weed grasses using a bacterium which is a Xanthomonas campestris pathovar which produces a wilt in the weed grass is described. In particular the use of a Xanthomonas campestris which infects Poa annua types to suppress or kill this weed grass is described. The method allows non-weed grasses to develop without interference from weed grasses to improve lawns, golf courses and the like.

  • Patent number: 4990157
Abstract: A plastic retaining strap in combination with a one piece plastic clip is disclosed where the plastic clip is secured to the retaining strap in a manner to allow pivotal and sliding movement of the clip on the strap. This arrangement is particularly useful with a baby soother which is retained in a similar manner at the opposite end of the strap relative to the plastic clip. The plastic retaining strap is formed with sufficient structural integrity to move to a generally elongate configuration when external stresses are removed. The particular securement of the clip and soother accommodate the more resistant strap allowing the combination to satisfy its intended purpose, although the strap is stiffer than the flexible straps of the prior art.

  • Patent number: 4808038
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for installing a hollow pile into an earth formation. The pile is provided with a closed bottom and perforations in a section of its wall near the bottom end and/or bottom closing plate. In this method, the pile is driven into the earth formation and liquid thermo-setting resin-forming composition is displaced through the pile and the perforations to permeate the formation where it solidifies and forms a consolidated mass. The liquid thermosetting resin-forming composition comprises:10-25%v--Epikote - 8282.5-10%v--MDA12.5-30%v--Butyloxitol0.25-2.5%v--DMP-100.5-5%v--Kerosene, and37.5-65%v--Xylene.

  • Patent number: 4708177
Abstract: The invention provides a fume extractor device for attachment adjacent a filling orifice of a container, which device comprises a hollow collar having inner and outer walls connected to one another, an outlet in the outer wall which is connectable to a fume removal system, and at least one opening in the inner wall, and connecting structure for releasably connecting the hollow collar to a container with the inner wall disposed around the filling orifice thereof. The connecting structure together with the hollow, collar comprise a clamping structure to releasably engage the cylindrical side wall of the container. In the operation of the device, the container may be filled or emptied by means of a dip tube inserted into the container through the hollow collar and the filling orifice and vapors escaping from the container through the orifice are extracted through the at least one opening in the inner wall and out of the hollow collar through the outlet by the fume removal system.
