  • Patent number: 6119422
Abstract: A composite building panel includes an impact resistant adhesively bonded mesh web which, in combination with other panel features, prevents impact penetration by defined projectiles moving at defined energies. Various embodiments include cementitious panels modified with the new web or used in conjunction with the new web to form structural wall and roof panels, some insulated with foam components.

  • Patent number: 4747247
Abstract: Disclosed is a roof structure containing a fire retardant. The roof structure has a fluted deck with troughs therein and a meltable insulation layer overlying the fluted deck. The fire retardant includes a series of non-flammable absorbent strips or strip segments which can be placed in the troughs of the fluted deck for retarding the flow of molten insulation in the trough during a fire by absorbing the molten insulation material in the trough.

  • Patent number: 4739599
Abstract: A wind-resistant inverted built-up roof construction is provided comprising a roof deck, a waterproof membrane overlying said roof deck, a plurality of closed cell foam plastic insulation material overlying said membrane, and a plurality of paving blocks overlying and supported by said insulating members in edge-to-edge relationship. A plurality of resilient members is secured relative to said membrane and extend past the insulating blocks. A plurality of hold-down plates respectively overlie a plurality of the paving blocks, and each plate is aligned with and secured to one of said resilient members in order resiliently to hold said paving blocks in place.

  • Patent number: 4677800
Abstract: An insulated roofing system is provided in which a waterproof membrane is applied to the roof deck. Extruded panels of closed cell polystyrene foam are provided on top of the membrane, thus protecting the membrane from thermal cycling, ultraviolet rays, and physical damage. The foam panels provide excellent insulation and are substantially impervious to water. The foam panels are extruded and are provided on the upper surface with integral ribs spaced by grooves. Lightweight reinforced concrete panels are laid directly on top of the polystryene foam and are secured thereto, preferably by adhesive spaced along the ribs. The concrete panels are provided with holes aligned with the grooves between the ribs to provide for ventilation and moisture removal on hot, dry days.

  • Patent number: 4559263
Abstract: A prefabricated cement-foam composite board is provided for use as in a built-up roof construction. The board includes an insulating panel of foam plastic resin, preferably polystyrene, and a layer of lightweight concrete bonded thereto. The lightweight concrete preferably includes a lightweight aggregate and is foamed and further includes a latex. A latex adhesive is used to bond the concrete layer to the foam plastic layer. Reinforcing material may be included in the concrete.
