  • Patent number: 4137885
Abstract: A glow plug temperature simulator circuit produces an electrical signal having a rate of increase of potential level substantially corresponding to the rate of increase of glow plug temperature and a rate of decrease of potential level substantially corresponding to the rate of decrease of glow plug temperature upon glow plug energization and subsequent deenergization, respectively. An electrical switching arrangement is effective to complete a glow plug energizing circuit across an operating potential source in response to the application of operating potential and, thereafter, is effective to alternately interrupt and complete the glow plug energizing circuit in response to the increase of the electrical signal to a predetermined potential level and in response to the decrease of the electrical signal to another lower predetermined potential level, respectively, to cyclically complete and interrupt the glow plug energizing circuit.

  • Patent number: 3982510
Abstract: A throttle motion control device for an automotive vehicle engine that is adapted to warn the driver of the vehicle to avoid operation of the engine in a manner to cause excessive fuel consumption by providing a stiff accelerator pedal feel when manifold vacuum pressure drops below predetermined values, the throttle motion control device including a vacuum motor operatively connected to the accelerator pedal and adapted to be actuated by a vacuum signal to apply a predetermined force on the accelerator pedal in a direction opposite to that applied by the driver to open the throttle, a first vacuum switch and a second vacuum switch being connected in series between a source of engine vacuum and the vacuum motor to control the flow of vacuum signals to the vacuum motor, the first vacuum switch being connected to the source of engine vacuum and by a conduit to the second vacuum switch, the conduit having an orifice therein controlling flow between the first and second vacuum switches, this conduit also having a

  • Patent number: 3982511
Abstract: A throttle motion control device for an automotive vehicle engine is used to warn the driver of excessive fuel consumption by providing a stiff accelerator pedal feel when manifold vacuum drops below a given predetermined value, this being effected by means of a vacuum motor operatively connected to the accelerator pedal to apply a predetermined constant force on the accelerator pedal in the opposite direction to that applied by the driver to open the throttle, a vacuum signal being applied to the vacuum motor through a vacuum control valve from the intake manifold of the engine, the vacuum control valve opening below a preselected economical vacuum and, a vacuum regulator is interposed between the vacuum motor and the vacuum control valve to maintain the vacuum signal applied to the vacuum motor at a preselected value.
