  • Patent number: 5097131
Abstract: An outer gantry (20) is movably mounted on wheels to move along tracks (22). An inner gantry (30) rotatably mounted on the outer gantry includes at least a pair of guide rods (56, 58) on which detector heads (32, 34) are slidably mounted. Motors (92, 102) selectively translate the detector heads along the guide rods. A chain and sprocket arrangement (116, 114; 128, 126) constrains the heads against canting and maintains opposite sides of the detector heads in alignment as the detector heads move and as the inner gantry rotates. Each detector head includes a roller bearing track or channel portion (140) on which a horizontal track portion (142) of a collimator (144) is hung vertically. A collimator connecting assembly (150) connects a bottom portion of the collimator to the detector head and secures it against further horizontal movement.

  • Patent number: 4081687
Abstract: A collimator for gamma ray cameras, comprising stacked rows of elongated apertures formed by adjacent pairs of sinuously contoured lead foil strips, the sinuous contour providing a plurality of alternately and oppositely directed first and second projections, the plurality of first projections of each strip extending in one direction from the surface plane and the second projections in the opposite direction, the first projections of one strip of each pair contacting respective second projections of the other strip of each pair to form a row of elongated apertures therebetween, the first projections of said other strip contacting respective second projections of another like strip laid thereon to form a second row of elongated apertures therebetween and continuing in such manner until the desired number of rows of elongated apertures are formed. The walls of such elongated apertures may be parallel to the aperture axis in one embodiment, and may diverge from the aperture axis in another embodiment.

  • Patent number: 4056427
Abstract: A focus collimator press for collimators for gamma ray cameras, comprising a pivot arm of fixed length mounted on a travelling pivot which is movable in the plane of a spaced apart work table surface in a direction toward and away from the work table. A press plate is carried at the opposite end of the fixed length pivot arm, and is maintained in registration with the same portion of the work table for pressing engagement with each undulating radiation opaque strip as it is added to the top of a collimator stack in process by movement of the travelling pivot inward toward the work table. This enables the press plate to maintain its relative position above the collimator stack and at the same time the angle of the press plate changes, becoming less acute in relation to the work table as the travelling pivot moves inwardly toward the work table. The fixed length of the pivot arm is substantially equal to the focal point of the converging apertures formed by each pair of undulating strips stacked together.

  • Patent number: 4049746
Abstract: Compositions comprising the reaction product of a novel, highly branched polyalkylenimine-urea-aldehyde resin and a polyacrylic resin provide useful intermediate coatings when applied to preconditioned metal surfaces which may be subsequently coated with light sensitive materials to make photolithographic plates. The intermediate coating, particularly when applied to a grained or ungrained aluminum support member which has been anodized and finally coated with light sensitive materials produces a highly durable plate that possesses good storage characteristics and is capable of unusually extended press runs.

  • Patent number: 3997794
Abstract: A radiation collimator having a plurality of pivotally mounted collimating tubes, with adjusting mechanism for simultaneously adjusting the tubes relative to each other to various selected positions wherein they are all focused on selected common focal points.
