Abstract: An off-road vehicle has: a frame including a rollover protection structure; two front wheels operatively connected to the frame; two rear wheels operatively connected to the frame; at least one seat supported by the frame; an internal combustion engine supported by the frame, being disposed rearward of the at least one seat, and being operatively connected at least one of: the two rear wheels, and the two front wheels; an engine air intake system fluidly connected to the engine for supplying air to the engine; and an air intake conduit having a conduit inlet and a conduit outlet, the conduit outlet being fluidly connected to the engine air intake system for supplying air to the engine air intake system, the conduit inlet being disposed at least in part vertically higher than the rollover protection structure.

Abstract: A snowmobile includes a frame, a driver seat supported by the frame, a left footrest and a right footrest, a rear suspension assembly connected to the frame, an endless track supported by the rear suspension assembly, a motor supported by the frame and operatively connected to the endless track, a drive shaft, a driven shaft operatively connected to the endless track, and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) operatively connecting the drive shaft to the endless track. The CVT comprises a drive pulley being operatively connected to the motor via the drive shaft, a driven pulley being operatively connected to the endless track by the driven shaft, a belt operatively connecting the drive pulley to the driven pulley, and a CVT housing enclosing the drive pulley, the driven pulley and the belt. The cowling encloses at least a portion of the radiator and includes an inlet in fluid communication with the portion of the radiator, a lateral outlet on a first side, and a downward outlet on a lower surface, both outlets rearward of the inlet. The inlet is adapted to direct air to enter through the portion of the radiator into the cowling. A cowling wall disposed between the inlet and one of the pair of footrests deflects air away from the pair of footrests. The lateral and downward outlets, each in fluid communication with the inlet, are adapted to direct air exiting the cowling away from the pair of footrests.

Abstract: A straddle-seat vehicle has a frame, and connected thereto, a pair of front wheels, at least one rear wheel, a pair of footrests, an engine, a radiator connected to the engine for cooling the engine, and a cowling. The cowling encloses at least a portion of the radiator and includes an inlet in fluid communication with the portion of the radiator, a lateral outlet on a first side, and a downward outlet on a lower surface, both outlets rearward of the inlet. The inlet is adapted to direct air to enter through the portion of the radiator into the cowling. A cowling wall disposed between the inlet and one of the pair of footrests deflects air away from the pair of footrests. The lateral and downward outlets, each in fluid communication with the inlet, are adapted to direct air exiting the cowling away from the pair of footrests.
