Patent number: 11931220Abstract: Wax-based compositions for making barrier layers used in oral treatment devices are thermally stable when formed into a flat sheet or three-dimensional article to a temperature of at least 45° C. and are plastically deformable at room temperature (25° C.). The wax-based compositions include a wax fraction homogeneously blended with a polymer fraction. The wax fraction includes at least one wax and the polymer fraction includes at least one polymer selected such that, when the at least one wax and at least one polymer are homogeneously blended together, they yield a wax-based composition having the desired properties of thermal stability and plastic deformability. Barrier layers and oral treatment devices made from such wax-based compositions are dimensionally stable to a temperature of at least 40° C. without external support and can be plastically deformed in a user's mouth to become at least partially customized to the size and shape of user's unique dentition.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2020Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: ULTRADENT PRODUCTS, INC.Inventors: Steven B. Johnson, David Lawrence Margetts, Barry Lee Hobson, Jonathan D. Scoville, Neil T. Jessop, Peter M. Allred, Dan E. Fischer

Patent number: 8313713Abstract: A device and method solves the problems of improving precision, in particular in reducing movement of a cuvette, particularly lateral or side to side movement of a cuvette, during the measurement process. The device, which stabilizes a cuvette during a measurement read in an analyzer having a cuvette path of travel, includes: a fixed support located on a first side of the path of travel and abutting a side of the cuvette at a location that does not interfere with an optical window on the cuvette on which the measurement read takes place; and a movable support located on a second side of the path of travel and biased against a side of the cuvette at a location that does not interfere with the optical window on the cuvette on which the measurement read takes place, and which is opposite the side abutting the fixed support.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2004Date of Patent: November 20, 2012Assignee: Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics, Inc.Inventors: Merrit N. Jacobs, Robert Anthony Burkovich, David Lee Johnson

Patent number: 6902593Abstract: A multi-cyclone gas/solids separator with reduced solids re-entrainment is disclosed. The separator uses a plurality of cyclones spaced horizontally apart from adjacent cyclones to process flue gas containing residual catalyst fines. Each cyclone has a body that has a feed inlet end for admitting gas and entrained solids into an annular space defined by a sidewall of the cyclone body and a cylindrical gas outlet tube axially aligned with the cyclone body. A solids outlet at an opposing end of the cyclone body has a tangential outlet for solids and a minor amount of gas through a sidewall of the cyclone body. A gas reflux opening is axially aligned with the outlet tube. The plurality of cyclones share both a common catch chamber for solids discharged from the solids outlet, and a common manifold for gas and entrained solids.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2003Date of Patent: June 7, 2005Assignee: Kellogg Brown and Root, Inc.Inventors: Richard B. Miller, Eusebius Gbordzoe, Yong-Lin Yang, Suisheng M. Dou, David Lee Johnson

Patent number: 4047961Abstract: A cement of the same general characteristics of a normal Type I is provided which involves the intergrind of from 1 up to about 25 parts by weight of air-cooled iron blast furnace slag, and from over 75 up to 99 parts by weight of conventional Type I Portland clinker. Traditional set control additives, particularly such as sulfate provided through gypsum, are used in the new cement composition. It is particularly noted that the slag involved is air-cooled, as contrasted to an amorphous material obtained by water quenching. In some respects the new product is better than traditional Type I, and can thus be referred to as an improved Type I.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1975Date of Patent: September 13, 1977Assignee: General Portland, Inc.Inventors: William Eugene Alderete, John Parke Boyer, Kenneth Earl Daugherty, David Lee Johnson

Patent number: RE49866Abstract: Systems are provided for logging transactions in heterogeneous networks that include a combination of one or more instrumented components and one or more non-instrumented components. The instrumented components are configured to generate impersonated log records for the non-instrumented components involved in the transaction processing hand-offs with the instrumented components. The impersonated log records are persisted with other log records that are generated by the instrumented components in a transaction log that is maintained by a central logging system to reflect a complete flow of the transaction processing performed on the object, including the flow through the non-instrumented component(s).Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2021Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: David Christopher Wright, Arijit Chatterjee, Qingqing Yuan, Praveen Kumar Barli, Basaveshwar S.
