  • Patent number: 11925202
Abstract: A smoking article may include a cigarette incorporated within an electrically powered aerosol generating device that acts as a holder for that cigarette. The smoking article possesses at least one form of tobacco. The smoking article also possesses a mouth-end piece that is used by the smoker to inhale components of tobacco that are generated by the action of heat upon components of the cigarette. A representative smoking article possesses an outer housing incorporating a source of electrical power (e.g., a battery), a sensing mechanism for powering the device at least during periods of draw, and a heating device (e.g., at least one electrical resistance heating element) for forming a thermally generated aerosol that incorporates components of tobacco. During use, the cigarette is positioned within the device, and after use, the used cigarette is removed from the device and replaced with another cigarette.

  • Patent number: 11914193
Abstract: An optical assembly includes stacked planar lightwave circuit (PLC) members each having a plurality of waveguides in a respective plane, to provide optical connections to two-dimensional arrays of external optical waveguides (e.g., optical fiber cores), with one array including non-coplanar groups of waveguides having group members that are alternately arranged in a lateral direction. An optical assembly may provide optical connections between array of cores having a different pitch and/or orientation to serve as a fanout interface. • Patent number: 10680510
Abstract: An AC/DC PFC converter comprises an LLC PFC pre-regulator and a DC/DC converter output stage. The output stage has a feedback unit adapted to provide a feedback signal (in addition to the conventional feedback of the bus voltage error) to the control circuit of the PFC pre-regulator for modulating the controlled output voltage of the PFC pre-regulator in dependence on the output power and/or the input current and voltage. In this way, the total harmonic distortion of the input of the converter can be reduced by controlling the gate switching in the PFC pre-regulator.
