    Abstract: This disclosure relates to a new type of needed for a subcutaneous port or for any use where blood is recycled, and more precisely to a needle with reduced friction openings for easing blood and its elements along a passageway made of a through bore in the body of a needle. The needle includes an oval shape opening for increased mechanical resistance of the needle while allowing a greater passage curvature of the blood cells at the greatest zone of passage. In other embodiments, a plurality of staggered openings is used to reduce the flow through any single opening where damage occurs, the openings can be made in a curved area, or a plurality of smaller openings or a grid made of openings can be used to further reduce the interference of the needle tip and the needle openings on blood.

    Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to a tool, a kit including said tool, and a method of use of the tool or the kit for making a subcutaneous pocket in a layer of fat for the introduction of a subcutaneous medical device, and more specifically, a tool, kit, and method of use thereof using a calibrated inflatable volume with a guide to open a subcutaneous pocket at the appropriate location in a body by inflating the volume to the appropriate size. The tool is calibrated to rest against a layer of muscle using a guide wire and inflate in a specific shape to a specific volume to gently displace fatty tissue that may obstruct the implantation of a subcutaneous device between the skin and the ultimate resting place. The tools allows for creating localized lateral retraction in an area of interest without placing strain on the skin or the muscle. A kit using the tool further includes surgical equipment needed for the surgery.

    Abstract: Disclosed are implantable, vascular access ports and vascular access systems including such ports. These ports include a biocompatible housing having at least one internal open-faced chamber extending along a reference axis, and defined by a concave sidewall and a bottom wall. The concave sidewall is concave in the direction of the axis and forms a lateral sidewall for the chamber. The port further includes a septum of biocompatible, self-resealing, penetrable material affixed to the housing and spanning the periphery of the open face of the chamber. A cannula is attached at a first end to the housing and extends laterally from that end. Its second end is adapted to receive a catheter. The cannula further includes internal walls defining a channel extending from the first end, along a channel axis from a point on the lateral boundary of, and in communication with, the chamber to the second end.
