  • Patent number: 9486263
Abstract: A plate system and method comprising a plate and a screw having an integral resilient lock. The screw comprises a head that has a portion that is adapted to be compressible as it is screwed into bone using a tool. After the screw head is received in the plate and the tool is removed therefrom, the screw head decompresses or expands into a locking or receiving area, thereby locking the screw in the plate. The plate is adapted to have at least one or a plurality of detents or lips for cooperating with at least a portion of the screw head to retain the screw in the plate and prevent it from withdrawing therefrom.

  • Patent number: 9457119
Abstract: A fluid filtration system is shown. The fluid filtration system utilizes a one-piece or multiple piece containers having a plurality of radiation-transmissible media adapted to receive light, such as ultraviolet light, white light or other wavelength light. The radiation-transmissible media are situated in the container and at least one or a plurality of radiation sources, such as ultraviolet lamps, are situated in an array in proximity to the radiation-transmissible media. The radiation-transmissible media interrupts the flow and velocity of the fluid stream passing through the container to extend the duration of radiation for any contaminants and also provide enlarged surface areas for the contaminants to be received and ultimately exposed to the radiation. In one example, the radiation-transmissible media may be tubular or spherical sections that are hollow or solid and made of quartz.

  • Patent number: 9439689
Abstract: A modular interspinous fixation system and method are shown. The system and method comprise a first plate, a second plate and a locking cross bar for locking the first and second plates together and into locked engagement with a first spinous process and a second spinous process. A bridge is mounted or received on the locking cross bar so that it becomes locked onto the locking cross bar when the locking cross bar is in locked engagement. The bridge and locking cross bar are adapted so that the bridge does not rotate about its axis while on the locking cross bar. Various other embodiments are shown illustrating various bridges of different shapes and sizes, integral and non-integral locking cross bars and even a ramped locking cross bar for facilitating preventing separation of the first and second plates after they are mounted to the first and second spinous processes.

  • Publication number: 20160242824
Abstract: A modular interspinous system is shown having a first plate, a generally opposing second plate and a modular insert that may be removably or permanently secured to the first plate. The first plate has a coupling means, coupler or connection system in the form of a screw that may be permanently or non-permanently docked or supported in the first plate. The modular insert is adapted, sized and shaped to expose at least a portion of the screw thread of the screw and that portion may cooperate with at least one mating female thread in the second plate, thereby enabling a user to rotate the screw in order to drive the first and second plates towards or away from each other and, for example, into compression with bone.

  • Publication number: 20160242863
Abstract: A bone plating system and implant card having at least one or a plurality of plates. The bone plating system and implant card has a card member or support having the at least one or a plurality of plates that are integrally, monolithically, or otherwise formed in or adhered to the card member so that the at least one or plurality of plates can be detached or removed from the card member manually or with a cutting instrument or tool. In one illustrative embodiment, the card member comprises a plurality of different plates that are the necessary plates for a single surgical procedure, such as a craniotomy. The bone plating system or implant card allows for selection of plates of varying sizes, shapes and configurations in a single card member, which could be generally planar or could also be non-planar or lie in a plane that is not flat.

  • Publication number: 20160000576
Abstract: This invention relates to a spinal fusion system and method for use as a prosthetic implant. The system and method includes a housing dimensioned to be situated between adjacent spinal bones, such as adjacent vertebrae. The housing cooperates with the spinal bones to define at least one or a plurality of graft areas for receiving graft material, which may be pre-packed into the cage or inserted anteriorly into the housing during a surgical operation such as a vertebrectomy or discectomy. A housing may have various features such as migration preventers to prevent the housing from migrating posteriorly towards a spinal column and can be used with a cover that permits the housing to “float” relative thereto. Screws are provided in one embodiment and are dimensioned or configured to lock against each other to retain the screws and, consequently, the cover in place.
