  • Patent number: 6362956
Abstract: An apparatus for removing heat from heat generating elements is disclosed. The apparatus is a thermal management system having a thermal distribution assembly in either one of or both of conductive and radiative communication with heat generating elements. The thermal distribution assembly has thermal zones, each of which is associated with at least one heat generating element. The thermal distribution assembly includes a heat spreading frame and a heat conducting frame. Heat passes from the heat generating elements to the heat conducting frame and then to the heat spreading frame, from which the heat is removed via convection.

  • Patent number: 6275595
Abstract: A high quality stereophonic sound enclosure system high resolution intended for computer visual display monitors employing cathode ray tubes (CRTs) having a vertical aperture grill, and methods for construction of same. The aperture grill has a natural frequency centered within the musical scale. The stereo speaker system comprises a ported speaker enclosure within which are mounted two conventional cone speaker assemblies. A stereo audio amplifier and control unit for controlling the audio signals delivered to the speakers is mounted within the speaker enclosure. The speaker enclosure is internally mounted within the monitor with a minimum number of attachment members incorporating vibration isolation material to remove vibration components near the natural frequency of the aperture grill. The speaker enclosure is internally reinforced to reduce structural deformations which contribute to airborne transmitted vibration within the monitor housing when the speaker system is operating.

  • Patent number: 5946403
Abstract: A directional microphone intended for use in a computer visual display monitor, and methods for construction of same. The integral directional microphone assembly comprises a cardioid electret microphone capsule retained therein by acoustically transparent foam. The microphone housing is mounted internally within a display monitor housing facing the user and adjacent to the top surface of the monitor housing. The microphone housing comprises a frontal opening and a plurality of nonfrontally facing openings which together maximally preserve sound pressure gradient applied to the microphone capsule, resulting in a hypercardioid spatial response.

  • Patent number: 5216326
Abstract: An improved degauss coil for use with cathode ray display tubes is disclosed. The degauss coil is formed from conductive traces placed directly on to a plastic part attached to or adjacent the front bezel surrounding the cathode ray tube. Alternatively, the conductive traces may be placed directly on to the bezel itself. The invention allows for a very narrow bezel border surrounding the cathode ray tube.

  • Patent number: 4777548
Abstract: An access door is described for a housing for tape drive apparatus of the type including a take-up reel, a hub for a supply reel, and a fan for moving air within the housing. The access door is hinged to the housing and is pivotable between open and closed positions. The access door includes an interior face which forms a ramp for guiding the supply reel into the housing and onto the hub. The door also includes an inlet port for receiving air from the fan, at least one exit port, and a passageway for communicating air between the inlet port and the exit port. Air leaving the exit port in the door is directed around the periphery of the supply reel.
