Patent number: 11339078Abstract: A method of reducing the volume of float bath atmosphere lost from an opening in the exit end of the float bath is described. The method comprises directing a first jet of fluid having a first jet velocity followed by a second jet velocity towards a plane a conveyance for a float glass ribbon. An obstruction in the path of the first jet of fluid causes the jet to change from the second to a third jet velocity. The obstruction may be a portion of a roller positioned outside the opening or a float glass ribbon that has been formed on a surface of molten metal contained in the float bath that has subsequently been transferred through the opening. A float bath having sealing means to reduce atmosphere loss from an exit of the float bath is also described, as is an assembly useful in carrying out the aforementioned methods.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 2017Date of Patent: May 24, 2022Assignee: Pilkington Group LimitedInventors: Karl Olverson, Gavin Parry, Mark David Lynam, Ian Ross Williams, David Lawrenson

Patent number: 8564476Abstract: An amplifier/duplexer for an antenna channel of a radar apparatus, comprises a first hybrid junction having two input/output ports for connection into the antenna channel, and two further ports each connected to a parallel combination comprising an amplifier and switching means switchable between a transmit condition in which it presents an open circuit and a receive condition in which it presents a short circuit so that a signal received in the antenna channel is applied to one of the input/output ports and reflected to the other input/output port each amplifier having an input connected to a respective output port of a further hybrid junction, an input port of the further hybrid junction being configured to receive a signal for transmission so that when the switching means is in the transmit condition the transmission signal is amplified by the amplifiers and delivered through the first hybrid junction to the antenna channel.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2010Date of Patent: October 22, 2013Assignee: MBDA UK LimitedInventor: David Lynam

Patent number: 4380765Abstract: A target tracking airborne active radar system in which a reduction in transmitter power is achieved by using individual amplifiers in the aerial quadrant channels. The amplifiers provide gain on transmission and negligible loss on reception and are realized by Impatt diode/hybrid junction modules.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1978Date of Patent: April 19, 1983Assignee: The Marconi Company, Ltd.Inventors: Michael F. Godfrey, David Lynam
