  • Patent number: 7426864
Abstract: A gauge of a vehicle instrument cluster includes a gauge defining a dial. A pointer is rotatably mounted in the instrument cluster and movable to a plurality of positions relative to the dial. A first scale of numbers is arranged sequentially around the dial and corresponds to a first range of vehicle speed. A second scale of numbers is arranged sequentially around the dial and corresponds to a second range of vehicle speed. The second scale of numbers corresponds to vehicle speeds that are faster than the first range of vehicle speeds and have like units. The first scale and the second scale of numbers are arranged in a radially offset relationship.

  • Patent number: 7207117
Abstract: A gauge of a vehicle instrument cluster includes a dial having indicia thereon. A pointer is rotatably mounted in the instrument cluster and movable to a plurality of positions relative to the dial. A light source is disposed in the gauge and adapted to direct light in a first direction. A light diverting member is disposed adjacent to the light source and receives light from the light source. The light diverting member includes a first and a second light exit areas. The first light exit area is adapted to direct a first portion of the light generally away from the dial. The second light exit area is adapted to direct a second portion of the light generally toward the dial.

  • Patent number: 5841394
Abstract: A radar system is described, which includes a built-in calibration/fault detection apparatus that enables rapid and easy calibration of the system. The system includes a long extrusion (70) forming a feed waveguide (90), a calibration waveguide (92), and a base (94) of a horn antenna. A linear array of TR (transmit/receive) units (42) are mounted on the extrusion, with each having a feed probe (100) that receives a feed signal, changes its phase and amplifies it, and delivers it through a monopole (110) to the horn. The calibration waveguide is coupled through holes (130) to the horn, with a calibration pickup (132) mounted at the end of the calibration waveguide. During calibration, one TR unit at a time is energized, and its output is detected by the calibration pickup to check the amplitude and phase of the TR unit.

  • Patent number: 5150883
Abstract: The invention provides a variety of fluid mechanics devices such as fluid-flow valves; piston and cylinder devices; fluid-flow restrictors; fluid reservoirs and fluid-flow manifolds. The devices are build up from stacks of wafer-like components. Which preferably are transparent and in each case, at least one of those components comprises an axial port and a radial port communicating with the axial port, there being concentric annular recesses in the faces of the component to receive an outer "O" ring type static seal between two mating components, and an inner "O" ring dynamic seal which acts between the wafer component and a vale rod piston rod, spindle or like device extending through the aligned axial ports of all the wafer components. Beside provide the double seal (static and dynamic) the arrangement also permits of great versatility of assembly.

  • Patent number: 4102987
Abstract: A product mixture resulting from the reaction of an anhydrous gaseous mixture of sulfur dioxide, chlorine and hydrogen fluoride in the presence of a catalyst is heated at a temperature of at least about 35.degree. C. under pressures up to about 65 psi to effect substantial conversion of undesired free chlorine in the resulting product mixture to sulfuryl chlorofluoride. The conversion of free chlorine to sulfuryl chlorofluoride allows the use of a completely anhydrous process from which uncontaminated sulfuryl fluoride and sulfuryl chlorofluoride products can readily be obtained. A method for the production of sulfuryl chlorofluoride from said gaseous mixture is also provided.
