    Abstract: Polyisoolefins are produced using the process according to the invention by polymerising isoolefins, optionally with conjugated or unconjugated dienes and/or cationically polymerisable, mono- or polyunsaturated compounds in solution, in suspension or in the gas phase at temperatures of -100.degree. C. to +200.degree. C. and pressures of 0.1 to 100 bar in the presence of an initiator system consisting of aluminium-cyclopentadienyl compounds and boron compounds.
