Patent number: 10699063Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, methods, and computer program products for authoring content for digital books. In some implementations, a single graphical user interface (GUI) is presented that allows an author to design a layout for the digital book, including editing text and inserting various types of interactive elements in the text. The GUI functions as both a digital book layout design tool and a word processor to facilitate the building of a digital book. The relative page location of inserted widgets can be determined by a user-selectable anchor point placed within the text. An outline view of the digital book can be created and presented in the GUI based on a hierarchical structure determined by paragraph styles applied to the text. The GUI can provide a hybrid glossary and index page for allowing the author to create and manage a glossary and index for the digital book.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2012Date of Patent: June 30, 2020Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Charles J. Patent number: 9925862Abstract: A compressor wheel for a turbocharger has an improved geometry that provides improved performance as compared with a comparably sized conventional compressor wheel by having the radially inward portion of the primary blades sweep upwardly into the upper region of the hub portion. The through bore and integral nut of conventional compressor wheels is eliminated and replaced with a blade extension that has an angled upper edge which extends downwardly and radially outwardly from the hub portion, effectively increasing the size of the blade, the amount of air movement and the amount of power generated, without increasing the overall cost, size or mass of the compressor wheel.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2015Date of Patent: March 27, 2018Assignee: Bullseye Power LLCInventor: David M. Hall

Patent number: 9710944Abstract: A system for authoring, publishing, and distribution of electronic documents is provided. The system includes a content authoring and publishing application to author and publish electronic documents, a content distribution system to distribute electronic documents, and a set of user devices that include digital content viewing applications that are used to read the electronic documents. The content authoring and publishing application is used to author and publish high-resolution versions of electronic documents. The high-resolution version of each document is associated with a set of annotations for each high-resolution image in the document. The annotations allow an electronic document thinning tool in the content distribution system to create a low-resolution version of each image and generate a low-resolution version of the electronic document without receiving low-resolution images from the author of the document.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2012Date of Patent: July 18, 2017Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: David M. Hall, Martin J. Murrett, Christopher E. Rudolph

Publication number: 20160222875Abstract: A turbocharger compressor housing is configured to allow a releasable fixed adjustment of a geometry of a compressor housing to increase at least one of responsiveness, efficiency or the ultimate power obtainable by a turbocharged system. Adjustability can be provided by an air intake pipe that is threadably connected with a central portion of the compressor housing to allow an air gap between the housing and the intake pipe to be adjusted to create an effect similar to adjusting the inducer area of a compressor wheel disposed in the housing, whereby power can be exchanged for efficiency and responsiveness. Set screws may be used to releasably fix the position of the intake pipe relative to the compressor housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2015Publication date: August 4, 2016Applicant: Bullseye Power, LLCInventor: David M. Publication number: 20150233022Abstract: A bi-regional fiber with a cellulosic core and a wax outer sheath is disclosed. The sheath can comprise high melting temperature wax. The fiber may be produced by processing the natural fiber at temperatures less than 70° C. The fiber can be processed in a standard manner such as, for example, a Keir process which may include bleach at approximately 100° C. with a wax subsequently added at a temperature sufficient to disperse the wax over the fiber surface. The fibers are ignition resistant as measured by industry standard tests. The wax may comprise from about 0.4 to 25 percent or greater of the fiber by weight. The wax may be natural wax, synthetic or emulsified wax or blends thereof. The bi-regional fibers can be blended with other fibers including BRCF fibers to create fire resistant fabrics including clothing, blankets and household materials.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 4, 2015Publication date: August 20, 2015Applicant: Carbtex Technology, Inc.Inventors: Francis P.
