Patent number: 6579365Abstract: A fluidized bed apparatus for applying a coating liquid onto the surface of particles includes a vertically disposed cylindrical product container having a peripheral wall, at least one cylindrical partition defining a centrally located up bed region and a peripherally located down bed region. The product container further includes an upper end connected to an expansion chamber and a lower end including an orifice plate having a plurality of openings for passage of fluidized air or gas. A nozzle is centrally located through the orifice plate and is adapted to generate a spray of coating liquid upwardly into the up bed. Particles located within the product container circulate upwardly through the partition and the coating liquid spray, between the up bed and the down bed. A plurality of inwardly directed discharge jets are positioned along the periphery of the product container and generally adjacent to the orifice plate.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2000Date of Patent: June 17, 2003Assignee: Glatt Air Techniques, Inc.Inventors: David M. Patent number: 6255807Abstract: A temperature curvature compensation technique and circuit can be realized through the generation of a temperature curvature compensation voltage provided by measuring the difference between the base-emitter voltage Vbe of two different transistors operating at two different temperature coefficient quiescent currents. This voltage difference measured between two such transistors results in a scaled voltage that is representative of the temperature curvature of the base-emitter voltage Vbe of a transistor, and which can then be summed to the bandgap reference output to provide a temperature compensated, bandgap reference voltage. The above method can be carried out in an amplifier circuit configured to receive and sum the temperature curvature compensation voltage and the bandgap reference output voltage into the temperature compensated, bandgap reference voltage.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2000Date of Patent: July 3, 2001Assignee: Texas Instruments Tucson CorporationInventors: Jerry L. Patent number: 5560124Abstract: A control device which may take the form of a plug adaptor is able to interrupt the power to a dryer when the load is dry. The only input is the pattern of the power consumption of the dryer, and this is used, together with a control algorithm, to provide the information needed for the control decision. The device, which provides a superior process for determining the cycle termination point, could also be incorporated directly into the dryers at the point of manufacture. In addition, the invention can correlate the moisture level and character of the laundry load with the pattern of power consumption of the clothes dryer. This correlation may be used to further optimize the performance of the drying cycle or to provide load-specific control and termination procedures.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1994Date of Patent: October 1, 1996Inventors: Douglas R. Patent number: 5441465Abstract: A flying ballet barre assembly is mounted across the width of a room and supported by a lifting system capable of moving the entire ballet barre vertically between a position of use near the floor and a storage position near the ceiling. Opposite ends of the ballet barre are equipped with a slide which cooperates with a slide groove in an upright support at each side which guides and supports the ballet barre while it is raised and lowered. The lifting system is powered by an electric motor which is controlled by a switch. The flying ballet barre assembly can be quickly lowered for use and then raised to the storage position so that the room in which it is mounted can be used for other purposes. A particular advantage is the lateral flexibility with the long ballet barre supported from cables which provides a dancer with an instantaneous reaction to an improper position which provides the feedback necessary to learning.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1994Date of Patent: August 15, 1995Inventors: Teresa C. Patent number: 5437889Abstract: A shield, such as an upstanding cylindrical partition, is mounted adjacent to an air source, such as an air distribution plate/screen of a Wurster system processor, whereby the open upper end of the partition is generally horizontally registered with and disposed about the upper extremity of an associated spray nozzle. The open lower end of the inner cylindrical partition is generally sealed relative to the air distribution plate/screen and operative to receive air upwardly therethrough for subsequent passing through the inner partition about the spray nozzle. The upper end of the inner tubular partition shields the initial spray pattern discharged from the spray nozzle and prevents the premature entrance of particles moving into the spray nozzle area.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1993Date of Patent: August 1, 1995Assignee: Glatt Air Techniques, Inc.Inventor: David M. Patent number: 5424291Abstract: Compounds of formula I relate to the peptide sequence of human fibrogen A.alpha. chain, with modified positions 14 through 17 (P.sub.3 -P.sub.1.sup.1), which may be a useful inhibitor of thrombin. The antithrombin and anticoagulant compounds of this invention, therefore, have therapeutic potential in treatment or prophylaxis of thrombosis and related atherosclerotic diseases. A procedure for the synthesis of peptides according to formula I is also described.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1994Date of Patent: June 13, 1995Inventors: Butrus Atrash, David M. Patent number: 5132142Abstract: An apparatus for layering powder onto particles has a vessel in which a rotor is mounted rotatable therein around a vertical axis. The rotor is a disc with a supporting surface for supporting particles. The apparatus also has a feeder with a substantially horizontal introducing member protruding slightly into the vessel above the disc. The introducing member limits a liquid outlet and an annular powder outlet encompassing the liquid outlet. During a layering operation, the introducing member protrudes into a bed of particles lying on the rotating disc and moved by the latter. There can then be sprayed liquid and powder simultaneously onto the particles passing in proximity of the outlets. This enables layering powder onto particles to produce thereby pellets having sizes lying in a narrow range.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1991Date of Patent: July 21, 1992Assignee: Glatt GmbHInventors: David M. Patent number: 5034746Abstract: A method of digitizing an input analog current signal such as a demodulated servo position error signal in a disk file includes charging a capacitor with the input demodulated signal, and comparing the resulting capacitor voltage with a plurality of thresholds to produce a comparator output signal for each threshold exceeded by the capacitor voltage. The comparator output signals are sampled, and each sampling period a current corresponding to the thresholds exceeded is generated. The generated current is used to draw off charge from the capacitor until an equilibrium voltage is reached. By knowing the current generated to remove from the capacitor the voltage placed thereon by the input current signal, then the total charge applied to the capacitor can be determined. Further digital processing of the input signal value may be done without the use of a complicated digital to analog converter.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1988Date of Patent: July 23, 1991Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Gary A.
