  • Patent number: 10916355
Abstract: A shipping container comprises a tubular or cylindrical shell having a closed end and an open end, a top end-cap removably secured to the open end of the tubular or cylindrical shell, and at least one fuel assembly compartment defined inside the shell. Each fuel assembly compartment includes elastomeric sidewalls and is sized and shaped to receive an unirradiated nuclear fuel assembly through the open end of the shell. The shipping container may further include a divider component, for example having a cross-shaped cross-section with ends of the cross secured to inner walls of the shell, and the divider component and the inner walls of the shell define the fuel assembly compartments. To load, the shipping container is arranged vertically and an unirradiated nuclear fuel assembly is loaded through the open end of the shell into each compartment, after which the open end is closed off by securing the top end-cap.

  • Patent number: 5570400
Abstract: An on-line sipping air delivery system that propels bubbles across the entire surface of the fuel assembly. A pump delivers liquid through an aspirator located near the bottom of the fuel handling mast. Liquid flow through a venturi in the aspirator causes a drop in pressure inside the aspirator and pulls air into the aspirator through an ambient air line that extends above the surface of the liquid. The air is mixed with liquid as it flows through the aspirator and the mixture is injected under the fuel assembly through nozzles positioned at the bottom of the assembly. Suction nozzles above the liquid level at the top of the fuel assembly are used in a conventional manner to capture and deliver the released air and gases to appropriate testing equipment.

  • Patent number: 4730385
Abstract: The invention is a tool to aid in the attaching of coaxial electrical cable ends to a half of a coaxial cable connector assembly. In detail, the tool comprises a wrench to prevent rotation between the connector halves when the connector halves are joined. A shaft is included having a threaded end for coupling to the recess of the other connector half. Finally, a drive preferably in the form of a portable electrical drill, is used to rotate the drive. Thus, with the joined connector halves installed in the wrench, so that rotation therebetween is prevented, the shaft can be threaded into the other connector half and thereafter coupled to the drill. The connector half to which the coaxial cable is to be joined is aligned with the prepared cable end and fed into the threaded recess as the wrench and joined connector halves are rotated.
