  • Patent number: 4614654
Abstract: A substantially homogeneous and non-crystalline taffy-like chewing gum confection having extended flavor and sweetness release characteristics comprises chewable gum base dispersed in a pliable taffy composition. The taffy composition comprises dry sugar in a weight ratio of sugar to syrup not exceeding about 2:1 and preferably a humectant such as sorbitol in an amount constituting from about 1.5% to about 5% by weight of the taffy composition. The product has an initial soft, chewy and taffy-like consistency. The taffy-like chewing gum confection, is prepared by heating a carbohydrate syrup having a moisture level within the range of from about 7% to 15% by weight of the syrup and dispersing gum base in the heated syrup.

  • Patent number: 4400372
Abstract: An improved chewing gum capable of cleaning and imparting a high degree of polish to the teeth comprises a chewing gum base, at least one non-toxic source of acid, and calcined kaolin particles, the median diameter of which is about 2 micrometers or less, substantially all of the particles being less than about 20 micrometers in diameter. Such a chewing gum cleans and imparts a high degree of polish to the teeth without unduly abrading or scratching them. When regularly chewed, such a gum, in addition to cleaning and polishing the dental enamel, also inhibits the reformation of dental plaque.

  • Patent number: 4191299
Abstract: A partition for segregating merchandise on perforated shelving includes an elongated planar body member with a flange extending along one elongated edge thereof which terminates at each end in tongues extending parallel to the elongated body. The partition is integrally molded from flexible yet stiff material such that the tongues may be deflected downward to insert the same in spaced perforations in the shelving where they bear against the underside of the shelving to secure the resilient partition in an upright position. Alternatively, the tongues may extend from spaced projections extending from the elongated edge near the two ends of the partition and one of the projections may be provided with conventional undercut hooks for engaging the perforation while the resilient tongues on the projections at the opposite end of the partition secure it in an upright position.

  • Patent number: 4181229
Abstract: A partition for separating merchandise or allocating space on perforated shelving includes an elongated planar body member and a pair of spaced feet extending laterally from one elongated edge of the body member. The integrally molded partition is made of a resilient yet stiff material such that the planar body member may be twisted about a longitudinal axis to insert first one and then the other of the feet into spaced perforations in the shelving. When the twist is released the partition is held firmly on the shelving in an upright position.

  • Patent number: 4150753
Abstract: A merchandise display fixture of the type wherein a horizontal bar is supported between two or more spaced brackets extending forwardly from a supporting column which has its outer end bent to a generally U-shaped contour. The two leg portions of the U each have a vertical slot therein, these being directly opposite each other and are of a shape and dimension designed to snugly receive the horizontal bar to be supported. The base portion of the U-shaped end of the bracket has a cam element thereon arranged to bear against the outer face of the horizontal bar as it is forced downwardly into the opposed vertical slots and spring the edges of the slot into tight binding contact with the horizontal bar, holding it against longitudinal movement and requiring force to lift it from the slots.

  • Patent number: 4151270
Abstract: Novel chewing gum composition for use by athletes and other persons to stimulate salivation while exercising, comprising the combination of at least three per cent by weight of an organic acid selected from the group consisting of adipic, ascorbic, citric, fumaric, lactic, malic and tartaric acids, and fructose. The organic acid and fructose combination provides a synergistic saliva stimulating effect greater than that of either ingredient alone. Sodium and potassium salts are included to help replenish those salts lost in perspiration, and high levels of dextrose or fructose provide a quick energy source and a hygroscopic agent for improved shelf life.

  • Patent number: 4126448
Abstract: Aluminum alloy products having superplastic properties are prepared by casting an aluminum alloy containing calcium and zinc in near-eutectic proportions under conditions that develop a eutectic cast structure of fine Ca-Zn-Al intermetallic rods, and working the cast alloy mass to break up the rods into particles having an average diameter of less than two microns.

  • Patent number: 4088788
Abstract: Chewing gum composition for use by persons to stimulate salivation while exercising, comprising the combination of at least three per cent by weight of an organic acid selected from the group consisting of adipic, ascorbic, citric, fumaric, lactic, malic and tartaric acids, and saccharin. The organic acid and saccharin combination provides a synergistic saliva stimulating effect. A further synergistic effect is provided by combining a high level of dextrose with the organic acid to improve the hygroscopicity and shelf life. Sodium and potassium salts are included to help replenish those salts lost in perspiration.

  • Patent number: 4017943
Abstract: A bracket and clip for supporting an end of a cross-bar on which merchandise display hooks are placed comprises a bracket with a clip-supporting portion at right angles thereto. The clip-supporting portion has a small rectangular opening therethrough below the vertical center thereof. A molded plastic clip has a top portion with a depending main wall intermediate its ends, the top and the main wall at the bottom having cooperating cross-bar-holding means thereon. At the back of the top there is a depending, somewhat resilient clip portion arranged to frictionally clamp the clip-supporting portion of the bracket tightly against the depending main wall while a projection on the free end of the depending clip portion enters the opening in said clip-supporting portion of the bracket to prevent accidental or unauthorized removal of the clip from the bracket.

The clip includes a horizontal portion at the top with two vertical walls and a restraining lip depending from the horizontal portions. The intermediate wall has a horizontal shelf which supports the crossbar. The clip is mounted on the bracket by inserting the bracket between the rear and intermediate walls, and the crossbar is inserted between the intermediate wall and the restraining lip, and rested on the horizontal shelf. The rear wall preferably extends below the edge of the bracket and includes a protrusion which extends below the bracket to secure the clip in place. The horizontal shelf of the intermediate wall preferably includes a raised lip which retains the crossbar in place once it is attached to the bracket.
