  • Publication number: 20240116023
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a multi-functional composition including activated carbon that is useful for injection into aqueous mediums such as soil or groundwater for sequestration of contaminants in a contaminated plume. The composition of activated carbon may include physical and chemical properties to enhance mechanism of contaminant physisorption and chemisorption including enhanced adsorption kinetics through manipulation of particle surface area, enhanced capacity and selectivity through controlled pore size distribution and enhanced electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions with contaminants. The multi-functional composition may further include a positively-charged nitrogen-functionalized organic compound and/or moieties that improve the activated carbon's ability to sequester contaminants in a subsurface environment.

  • Publication number: 20240100501
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a multi-functional composition including activated carbon that is useful for injection or other application into soil or groundwater for removal (e.g., via adsorption) of inorganic contaminants in a contaminated plume. The composition of activated carbon may include physical and chemical properties to enhance the mechanism of contaminant physisorption and chemisorption including enhanced electrostatic interactions with contaminants. The multi-functional composition may further include one or more second materials (e.g., contaminant-selective agents) which comprise one or more compounds that improve the activated carbon's ability to sequester or otherwise immobilize inorganic contaminants in a subsurface environment.

  • Patent number: 7163031
Abstract: An automated bulk dispensing system and a method of use including selectively receiving a predetermined amount of radioactive liquid from a second container into a third container, selectively receiving a predetermined amount of nonradioactive liquid from a first container into a fourth container or directly into the third container depending on whether kits or multi-dose containers of medicine are desired. Preferably, this is for nuclear pharmaceuticals. Displacement mechanisms that are connected to the third container and fourth container are for mixing and dispensing liquid. There is at least one control valve, preferably three control valves, which are each controlled by drive mechanisms. The mixed liquid from the third container can be transferred to a recipient container. There is also a gas vent and bubble detector to eliminate bubbles with a processor that is also utilized to control the displacement mechanisms and the drive mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 5227139
Abstract: A sanitary sampling system for attachment to a tube portion of a fluid containing enclosure. The sanitary sampling system is comprised of a rigid stem portion for attachment to the tube portion of the fluid enclosure, a stopper portion having a lower portion for insertion into the rigid stem portion and tube portion, a disk-shaped orifice plate fitting for placement on the upper surface of the stopper portion and an adjustable clamp for adjustment around the stem portion, orifice plate fitting and stopper portions of the sanitary sampling system. The sanitary sampling system is designed to enable the stem portion, stopper portion and orifice plate fitting to interlock to form an air-tight and leak-free seal when the adjustable clamp is tightened.

  • Patent number: 5221485
Abstract: The use of reverse osmosis as an alternative or substitute method for the purification of a crude diagnostic agent. X-ray contrast agent, magnetic resonance imaging agent, or radiopharmaceuticals are purified by passing through a cross-linked reverse osmosis membrane.

  • Patent number: 5160437
Abstract: The use of reverse osmosis as an alternative or substitute method for the purification of a crude diagnostic agent. In the purification process a crude Ioversol solution is contacted with a cross-linked membrane under pressure, forcing the low molecular weight impurities within the crude Ioversol solution through the membrane pores and retaining Ioversol molecules.

  • Patent number: 5137628
Abstract: The present invention relates to chromatography column for process scale high performance purification, which has high stability and structural integrity regardless of the internal diameter or operating pressures. The chromatography column according to the present invention includes a sealing arrangement which enables the production of internally leak proof chromatography columns having large internal diameters at relatively low cost. The present invention also relates to the seal for the chromatography column.

  • Patent number: 4991633
Abstract: A sanitary packaging system and method of using the same for the packaging of a sanitary product comprising a sanitary housing portion, a product bag, a sliding adjustment tube and a product tube. The product tube extends inside the sanitary housing portion and is flexibly attached to the sliding adjustment tube to which the product bag is attached. The sanitary product under pressure passes through the product tube, sliding adjustment tube and into the product bag to complete packaging. Sanitized air is blown through the sanitary housing enclosure to create a positive pressure therein, whereby in the case of a leak within the product bag, sliding adjustment tube or product entry tube, sanitary product leaks outwardly therefrom rather than allowing contaminates to be pulled inwardly and contaminate said sanitized product.
