    Abstract: A light system is provided that can be removably coupled to a layer of material, such as clothing, to provide hands-free illumination for tasks and activities (e.g., while walking, running, reading, writing) at low level light conditions. The light system includes a light module with one or more light sources, a power source and one or more magnetic elements or magnetically responsive modules. The light system also includes a backing plate removably coupleable to the light module so that the layer of material is interposed between the light module and the backing plate. The backing plate has one or more magnetic elements or magnetically responsive modules. When removably coupled to said layer of material, the light module and backing plate remain substantially in place even when the layer of material is under motion.
