Patent number: 11520935Abstract: Back-up procedures for saving configuration data are provided, which enable the restoration of said configuration data on the device when it is reset to default, or on another device when the device is stolen or broken. Since configuration data are sensitive data, it is important to protect their confidentiality and their integrity throughout the back-up and restore process. Current solutions enable a secure back-up and restore process on the same device since the backed-up configuration data are encrypted using credentials that are only known to the device. In order to overcome these drawbacks, a solution is proposed for performing a secure back-up process which enables the restoration of the backed-up data to the same device or to a distinct device. This is made possible by using encryption keys that are common to a pool of devices. Those common encryption keys are provided during the manufacturing of the devices.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2018Date of Patent: December 6, 2022Assignee: INTERDIGITAL MADISON PATENT HOLDINGS, SASInventors: David Martens, Olivier Hardouin

Patent number: 10900137Abstract: A continuous or semi-continuous process for fabricating nanowires or microwires makes use of the substantially planar template that may be moved through electrochemical solution to grow nanowires or microwires on exposed conductive edges on the surface of that template. The planar template allows fabrication of the template using standard equipment and techniques. Adhesive transfer may be used to remove the wires from the template and in one embodiment to draw a continuous wire from the template to be wound around the drum.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2018Date of Patent: January 26, 2021Assignee: UChicago Argonne, LLCInventors: Anirudha V. Patent number: 9836455Abstract: Classification of collections of items such as words, which are called “document classification,” and more specifically explaining a classification of a document, such as a web-page or website. This can include exemplary procedure, system and/or computer-accessible medium to find explanations, as well as a framework to assess the procedure's performance. An explanation is defined as a set of words (e.g., terms, more generally) such that removing words within this set from the document changes the predicted class from the class of interest. The exemplary procedure system and/or computer-accessible medium can include a classification of web pages as containing adult content, e.g., to allow advertising on safe web pages only. The explanations can be concise and document-specific, and provide insight into the reasons for the classification decisions, into the workings of the classification models, and into the business application itself.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2012Date of Patent: December 5, 2017Assignees: NEW YORK UNIVERSITY, UNIVERSITY OF ANTWERPInventors: David Martens, Foster Provost

Publication number: 20170234931Abstract: A computer-based processing system (e.g., host server) is operable for receiving historical device operation information (power consumption data) collected during operation of the remote battery-operated device in accordance with a first set of operating parameters, including rechargeable battery information (such as the number of charging cycles experienced). The first set of operating parameters enable operation of the battery-operated device in a first operating mode. The processing system calculates an observed battery life for the device based on the received historical power consumption data and a power capacity value representing a power capacity of the battery resident in the device. This observed battery life may be output to a user and used to determine whether the device will meet a predetermined operational life. If not, parameters for the device can be modified and a new projected battery life calculated (simulation), with the new modified parameters controlling power consumption in the device.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 25, 2016Publication date: August 17, 2017Inventors: Charles Chapman Moore, David Marten

Patent number: 9429383Abstract: An apparatus for mounting an accessory, such as a front stabilizer, to an archery bow allows a wide variety of adjusted positions. The apparatus includes first and second coupling members, a first threaded system for securing the first coupling member to a handle of the archery bow, and a second threaded system for securing the first and second coupling members together. The first threaded system allows the first coupling member to be adjusted about its longitudinal axis relative to the bow handle when loosened, and to be fixed relative to the bow handle when tightened. The second threaded system allows the first and second coupling members to be angularly adjusted relative to each other when loosened, and to be fixed relative to each other when tightened. A front stabilizer or other accessory is secured to the second coupling member.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2014Date of Patent: August 30, 2016Inventor: David Martens

Publication number: 20130117278Abstract: Networked data can, e.g., define connections between similar entities. Such data can be valuable for, e.g., improving business revenue opportunities (e.g., increasing sales, reducing customer attrition/churn, etc.) as networked data can capture similarities that can be often hard to encapsulate in traditional variables such as, e.g., socio-demographics. For example, related research has generally focused on the case where social network data was obtained directly or indirectly from online data, or from offline call logs in a telecommunication setting. Results can be implemented when inferring the values of target variables over the networked data. Methods, computer-accessible medium and systems according to exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure for creating privacy-friendly pseudo-social networked (PSN) data from off-line banking data can be provided. Exemplary PSN in accordance with certain exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure can be used, e.g.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 11, 2011Publication date: May 9, 2013Inventors: David Martens, Foster Provost
