    Abstract: A system according to various embodiments can include a reusable tracking device associated with a shipment of a package and an input/output device. The reusable tracking device is configured to be separable from the package and returned for reuse when the package reaches a predefined destination. The tracking device comprises a sensor, memory, and a processor. The sensor detects sensor data about the reusable tracking device. The memory stores data including the sensor data collected by the sensor. The processor associated with the reusable tracking device determines a location of the reusable tracking device based on the data. The input/output device receives the data from the reusable tracking device.
