  • Publication number: 20250099941
Abstract: A sorbent composition comprises activated carbon with at least most of the particulates of the sorbent composition have a sphericity in the range of about 0.75 to about 1.0 and/or an aspect ratio greater than about 0.71.

  • Publication number: 20240317589
Abstract: Activated carbon (AC) produced from agglomerated purified carbonaceous product (PCP) are provided. The PCP is in particulate form, at least about 90% by volume (% v) of the particles are no greater than about 25 J.1m in diameter; the PCP has an ash content of less than about 5% m and a water content of up to about 60% m. The PCP may be used to make AC, or utilized as an additive for production of AC from other carbonaceous feedstocks.

  • Publication number: 20060096926
Abstract: A method for removing mercury from a fluid stream includes the steps of providing a porous composite material comprising a substrate and a plurality of catalyst and/or photocatalyst particles, and contacting substrate with a fluid stream. The porous composite material adsorbs and/or then oxidizes or reduces metallic species including elemental mercury. A fossil fuel fired power plant can include an emission control device comprising the porous composite material to filter flue gas emissions into the environment.
    Type: Application
    Filed: March 5, 2004
    Publication date: May 11, 2006
Inventors: David Mazyck, Chang-Yu Wu, Erik Pitoniak, Kevin Powers, Danielle Londeree
  • Publication number: 20060076229
Abstract: Magnetic activated carbon and the removal of contaminants from a fluid stream using the magnetic activated carbon is described. The magnetic activated carbon is preferably magnetic powdered activated carbon and may contain titania. The magnetic activated carbon (10) may be used to remove contaminants such as mercury from fluid streams including flue gases (20) from a combustion plant.

  • Publication number: 20060067854
Abstract: Systems are provided for revitalizing air and cleaning or purifying an enclosed area such as a building or vehicle interior that includes introducing a cleansing gaseous material into the area and treating the area with one or more photocatalysts. Systems of the invention can provide effective removal or degradation of both microorganisms and gaseous chemical pollutants.
